oh, it's the Everyday brand - I don't go to that supermarket though (Colruyt's private label/home brand)

this is the CitΓ© Moderne, a neighborhood built in 1922-1925, by architect Victor Bourgeois: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor_Bourgeois
― StanM, Thursday, 14 July 2022 11:30 (one year ago) link
Tim already said that but I didn't know that was the name of the whole neighborhood
― StanM, Thursday, 14 July 2022 11:41 (one year ago) link
ha, the first picture is about 3 clicks away from the second if you click beyond the road barrier that blocks the next road on the left.
the place all looks shabby, like the places near where i live that were built immediately after the war in the cheapest materials and pebbledashed to hide the worst of it

Well done!
― kinder, Thursday, 14 July 2022 15:34 (one year ago) link
It does look like it's in need of some looking after for sure, architecturally pretty nice though, it's been on my list of places I want to go for some years now.

(So much so that I spent my lunch hour identifying modernist churches I might visit on a future trip to Brussels, I can feel a plan coming together nicely)

If you turn left and go down the road a bit it seems that between 2009 and 2013 a new estate was built around the corner, in which appears to be a modern homage to the original style:https://goo.gl/maps/U1PyfSaqjNngQTY29https://goo.gl/maps/CfwDUnL9a2DiJaQFA
The top link is 2009, the bottom 2013. It has the same street lights but the buildings have more wood.

Warrington, UK - looking towards Fiddlers Ferry Power Station (which has 8 towers but is the first google images result if you look for power station "7 towers" :-) )

How'd you find it so quick?
― nickn, Thursday, 21 July 2022 16:18 (one year ago) link
I told you: I googled "power station "7 towers" " and the first result looked VERY suspiciously correct + the hills in the distance did too
― StanM, Thursday, 21 July 2022 17:05 (one year ago) link
first result in Images
and then the first aerial picture already looked like it was the right direction
https://www.google.be/maps/@53.3742371,-2.6680439,3a,75y,38.96h,86.71t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sAF1QipPUHszeH6erpADiR2Jk4tSuQ8ISZxIOml_Tjokg!2e10!3e11!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipPUHszeH6erpADiR2Jk4tSuQ8ISZxIOml_Tjokg%3Dw203-h100-k-no-pi-0-ya38.014175-ro-0-fo100!7i8192!8i4096
so we need to be further back + two bridges near each other: and that was it. Lucky :-)

My wild guess would be Oregon or somewhere northwest. There's a tree on the right that has red flowers, which might be a clue if identified

NW seems a good initial candidate. It looks to be at the base of a hill...or part way down one

Pennsylvania plate?
― Christmas in Davenport (cherry blossom), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 05:00 (one year ago) link
The license plate on the truck might be Utah, which probably means they just moved from Utah, and this is a completely useless clue.
― Hideous Lump, Wednesday, 27 July 2022 05:03 (one year ago) link
Yeah, the plate itself doesn't really matter (its not PA anyway, top and bottom band take up too much space)
― Christmas in Davenport (cherry blossom), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 05:16 (one year ago) link
It looks pretty steep, from the trees and need for such a wooden structure to access the house, but you can't see much in the distance. Some humid northern climate.
― Nabozo, Wednesday, 27 July 2022 05:35 (one year ago) link
That truck looks like a work truck (tool boxes, spray cans) rather than a moving truck.
The cars seems a bit older than I would expect in a middle class city area, so maybe outside a city in a rural area. Also, the houses are pretty modest for a "view" area.
Could be the hilly south too (Appalachia).
― nickn, Wednesday, 27 July 2022 06:39 (one year ago) link
looks like the "back" of those houses--wonder what they are all facing? does look like a steep drop off
― a (waterface), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 12:10 (one year ago) link
Pittsburgh somewhere??? That looks like a Penna plate
― a (waterface), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 12:11 (one year ago) link
Definitely looks like a steep drop, hillside of some sort
That looks like a Penna plate
Aren't the bands wrong though? The blue and yellow look too thick, take up too much space
― Christmas in Davenport (cherry blossom), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 12:38 (one year ago) link
yeah you're right--those are also white letters which at a quick glance it looks like PA has blue letters
― a (waterface), Wednesday, 27 July 2022 13:11 (one year ago) link
but it looks like maybe no states have white letters?

AFAIK, Pennsylvania is the only state to use that color scheme in its license plates.

Agree that the houses/cars look a bit basic and give the impression it's not a particularly well off area.
