haha Ade, I'm playing GTA3 now too (in open defiance until GTASA drops down to $19.99).

I got past The Green Sabre and now I don't know what to think. I'm out in the woods, far from home. I had so many more GANG territories to take over! What about Denise?! I miss my motorcycle! I still had taxi missions to do! Now I'm stuck here in the sticks taking pictures for Tenpenny. I WANNA GO HOME!

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Monday, 22 November 2004 17:35 (nineteen years ago) link

Just made it into San Fierro. Is there another save spot at the beginning besides the one you start out at?
Also - mt. chilliad - wow

if you buy houses around then yes - there's a safehouse near chinatown and near other places where there is mission.

GTA:VC should also be platinum if you don't have that.

i wasn't a fan of the first (got about 10% into it) and haven't played Vice City so we'll see how i get on with SA (it was a present - i'd've bought ratchet and clank, much more my style...)

i find it odd that i will quite happily go on a tri-state killing spree and shoot anything that moves, mow down pedestrians with a fork-lift etc but i stick to my vegetarian diet in all the food places...

koogs (koogs), Monday, 22 November 2004 17:58 (nineteen years ago) link

luddite!! my constitution is too delicate to withstand playing GTA3 again. which is kind of a pity, bcz i never even beat it :(

PP, your pain is my pain.

\(^o^)/ (Adrian Langston), Monday, 22 November 2004 18:34 (nineteen years ago) link

i bought GTA3 for $20 and was given Vice City so I'm not too concerned.

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 22 November 2004 18:53 (nineteen years ago) link

Has anybody completed the Trucker missions? The last one is an absolute bitch.

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 00:15 (nineteen years ago) link

Like I said before, I'm up in the woods. I went ahead and drove back to Los Santos. It was all changed! The gang territories from my map were gone. Why? Because the Ballas run everything now! They were all leanin' on Ryder's car on Grove Street! Messin' with me as I went to my garage and whatnot.

Thomas Wolfe was right. You can't go home again.

big chaki (chaki), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 08:26 (nineteen years ago) link

stripey jumper, black rimmed specs, bald head. I look quite sensible.

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 09:23 (nineteen years ago) link

did OG Loc on third try last night (turned the car over on the first two, once in the fountain in Pershing Square (how?) and once by taking a shortcut over the interstate where there was no bridge...). just gave up trying to shoot him en route and took the bike part easy.

been nice spotting LA landmarks i'm familiar with: Encounters at LAX, Westin Bonaventure, Santa Monica Pier, the 101 etc. do the following exist in the game: Bradbury Building, Ennis Brown House, Capitol Building, Griffith Observatory...?

includes the Forth Bridge!

koogs (koogs), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 11:24 (nineteen years ago) link

okay so I'm now actually having regular dreams at night about this game.
Last night I dreamt that Maxine (coronation st) had come round to my mansion for a party, then a GTA mission started. I had to drive her back to her bedroom on a sofa and avoid hitting anything. If I hit anything my "Cheap" meter went down.
Needless to say I lost the mission right at the end when I got the sofa stuck on a wall. The mission ended with a message "Is salmon good enough for you?"

Ste (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 15:06 (nineteen years ago) link

Haha, Chaki. I feel so remedial since I haven't opened up Vegas and had sex with the space aliens or whatever happens in this game.

I've got gray pants, a black running shirt, an afro and beard, and shades. I was wearing a cowboy hat for awhile, but then I decided oh for crying out loud, a cowboy hat???

I met some white girl on top of a building in Blueberry last night. SHe was shooting at targets. I went up to her to talk, but she said that I was too muscled up for her tastes! What the ... ? WHERE IS THIS GIRL IN REAL LIFE?

No, no, I'm teasing. I've already got a girlfriend. AND HER NAME IS DENISE AND SHE LIKES TO DO DRIVE-BY'S!

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 17:13 (nineteen years ago) link

Salmon?

Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 17:13 (nineteen years ago) link

PP, when you head back to grove street, I recommend you kill a few ballas on the street. I've been back a couple of times, and when I went on a short killing spree, my respect increased. I'm not sure who is respecting me, but somebody is showing me some love.

Is "The House":

wow I got dumped in the countryside by tenpenny and his cronies. it's lonely out there. I just met caesar's crazy friend.

The only thing missing from Cesar's crazy friend is her winning a whiskey shot contest with a Sherpa.

GIMP SUIT. I love the gimp suit. I like doing missions in the gimp suit.

Big Baby Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 17:13 (nineteen years ago) link

i found a girl on top of a roof, it was near some paper gun targets. I think she rejected me or something but now I can't seem to get her back there. Where has she gone ?

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 21:57 (nineteen years ago) link

and i found another one of those Beat The Cock missions, I swam and cycled for what seemed like ages and finally cycled up to the fourth place guy and thought what the heck and decided to shoot him in the face. I got disqualified, blimey who would've thought it.

GIMP SUIT + AVIATORS + GOLD CHAIN!

MC Transmaniacon (natepatrin), Thursday, 25 November 2004 01:00 (nineteen years ago) link

any tips on the "air raid" mission on top of Z's crappy shop? i've nothing to do apart from that to carry on & it's making me want to boot the tv out of the window.
also where's the flying school? i've found the others car, bike etc... but no plane yet.

lucifer, Thursday, 25 November 2004 12:44 (nineteen years ago) link

use the radar while doing that mission - it really helps.

the flying school will be shown to you during a later mission

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 25 November 2004 12:50 (nineteen years ago) link

although are you sure there's nothing else to do? i thought Zero's shop missions aren't really required in the main plot (i've only heard this from someone else though).

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 25 November 2004 12:51 (nineteen years ago) link

are there any more bonus RC missions other than the biplane one at Zero's place? Are there no RC Bandit races?

Ste (Fuzzy), Thursday, 25 November 2004 13:23 (nineteen years ago) link

Please tell me how to do better at the flying school as it's currently making me tear my hair out. I can take-off and land fine, but when it comes to actually moving the damn thing... nada.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 25 November 2004 13:28 (nineteen years ago) link

unfortunately it seems like practice is really the key here dom! there's not really a hard and fast rule of how best to handle the plane - it really is a bit of an art! From experience i found it better to not be constantly adjusting the plane as you move about as that usually make things worst, slow down the plane if you need to manoeuvre the plane a lot.. use the L2 and R2 more and left analog less (as that keeps the plane more steady).

But it's really worth putting in the time on this now because you're going to really need the skills for some missions later!!

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 25 November 2004 13:35 (nineteen years ago) link

cheers ken, i've just bought the airfield for james woods (not sure of characters name) and the only other mission is Z's.

also across from the garage is another garage with a blue house logo saying i can't purchase it yet. when do i get that?

lucifer, Thursday, 25 November 2004 13:38 (nineteen years ago) link

yeah you need to learn to fly before the rest of the missions are available.

kens right about later missions, especially the naval base one. oooh.

Ste (Fuzzy), Thursday, 25 November 2004 13:43 (nineteen years ago) link

the car showroom (blue house logo) is only available once you pass the driving test missions and then the extra set of missions at your garage (which become available after the driving tests)

Ste (Fuzzy), Thursday, 25 November 2004 13:44 (nineteen years ago) link

Do the planes fly like the RC plane/Skimmer from Vice City?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 25 November 2004 13:47 (nineteen years ago) link

have done all driving tests apart from last one "city slick". it's a toughy! any tips?

lucifer, Thursday, 25 November 2004 13:48 (nineteen years ago) link

each plane handles a bit differently but definitely an improvement on VC. The private jet for instance is great to fly once you take off but the fighter jet took me a while to get used to as it has 2 flying modes.

the skimmer is back as well and a lot easier to take off from the water than in VC.

Ste (Fuzzy), Thursday, 25 November 2004 14:19 (nineteen years ago) link

City slick, i didn't drive with my foot down all the way that's all I can remember from my attempt.

i always push forward on the left analogue stick when i am approaching hills, this increases the camera angle on the car so you can see what's in front of you.

Ste (Fuzzy), Thursday, 25 November 2004 14:26 (nineteen years ago) link

this game has a fucking FIGHTER JET?

trigonalmayhem (trigonalmayhem), Thursday, 25 November 2004 14:29 (nineteen years ago) link

that's not even the best thing mate ;)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 25 November 2004 14:30 (nineteen years ago) link

i'm finding i have to go to the bookies to get money cos i keep running out! how you guys making money?

lucifer, Thursday, 25 November 2004 14:44 (nineteen years ago) link

if you get to the later missions you can earn megabucks.. also, if you do zero's missions you end up with his shop, and other places you can earn cash. ambulance missions are pretty good money earner.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 25 November 2004 14:45 (nineteen years ago) link

once you finish the driving test and you finish the extra missions at the garage (there's only a few) the Vehicle Export crane becomes available, they pay you good money for some of the cars.

Ste (Fuzzy), Thursday, 25 November 2004 14:53 (nineteen years ago) link

cheers! i'll give 'em a try.

lucifer, Thursday, 25 November 2004 14:57 (nineteen years ago) link

For Air Raid, make sure to shoot ahead of the planes, not directly at them. This'll make it (relatively) easy. Now, Supply Lines... that's just basically unwinnable. People have done it, but it's just not worth it. Luckily, Zero's missions aren't necessary to complete the storyline.

How to make lots of money easily: Bet on the horses. Always pick the one with highest odds. Soon, you'll have too much dough. Way too much.

As far as flying goes, make sure to retract the landing gear after takeoff. This should make things a great deal easier.

Joshua Houk (chascarrillo), Thursday, 25 November 2004 19:38 (nineteen years ago) link

for Supply Lines you need to go low and, if you can, behind them. and infinite ammo so remember to just keep blasting.

I personally think its worth it just to see the next crazy Zero mission (which is a lot easier thank god), it's not worth it for the extra cash which isn't really that much. you need to do it for 100% though.
