what's the deal now, you have to be mutuals to DM? explains all the funny things where people are posting complaints a lot and tagging brands until they follow back to get a support ticket going

Good thread going against claims that social media has done that much damage in our politics.

Basically did little to nothing. More evidence social media has been overhyped as a cause of our political dysfunction. https://t.co/rn4ncBnl2X pic.twitter.com/U9wvnuGR2G

I also don't think the timeframe of the study was that useful. If you weren't already in the bag for one candidate five weeks before the election, you probably weren't going to be swayed.

Does anybody use Telegram? in terms of breaking news etc. which Twitter feels less and less useful for

Here's a way to stop the internet having your "private thoughts and questions" STOP PUTTING THEM ALL ON THE INTERNET.

tbf you (and i!) have been on ilx for decades now

but mostly that guy is a (really rich) fucking moron

within the last couple years there was a piece by someone (maybe tom scocca?) noting that in the last 25 years there have been so many people trying to game the system that inevitably a few were going to win -- like elon buying himself the 'foundership' of tesla. jack seems like a business school study in progress, except none of his idiocy will ultimately affect him personally
