I can’t believe I’m now rooting for IDS

Chewshabadoo, Thursday, 30 May 2024 18:09 (one month ago) link

it's not nice or legit, the way she was treated. But just feel like MPs who keep a low profile and sleepwalk through the job and don't criticise the vile direction taken by Starmer, they only seem to get angry when they get fucked over themselves. There are millions of ppl getting fucked over every day in this country, to help these ppl is often cited as the reason why MPs joined the Labour Party, and of course about 90% of these fuckers are lying through their teeth.

I think a big part of this, now knowing that she’s got a young baby, was her trying not to attract the endless hate and threats others have got, especially when you know the party leadership and/or their spokespeople won’t stick up for you and will probably further inflame the situation by comparing you to a flea or something.

if they all weren't so cowed by Starmer, including McD who has been silent, then there wouldn't be any unpleasant surprises a month before a GE. I know it's harsh but I have no respect for MPs who are treading water/doing bland canvassing pics and campaigning for a nasty right-wing shitshow and going silent while soft left candidates are getting deselected etc.. There is no point being in the party if you are too shook by Kieth to actually be a participant in political arguments anymore imo.

The Labour candidate has defended describing the United Nations as antisemitic in a post on social media

He also stood behind a tweet which asked: ‘Aren’t Jews politically black?'https://t.co/qKPtw3oy7l

Change.

One of two NEC members sat on the @faizashaheen three-person panel given a seat. This is the one who kept his camera off throughout. In general, decency (or just plausible deniability) demands a little longer between grubby little stitch-up and reward. https://t.co/XZ6RCVBE0K

now would be good for those journalists to leak who said "shaking off the fleas" quote and "MP for Gaza" (sic?) to them

glumdalclitch, Thursday, 30 May 2024 21:27 (one month ago) link

They agree, so they won’t.

Heard a Labour ad on YouTube while watching Boston sports radio, Starmer starts in his horrible nasally voice

“I came into politics to get things done

Then there’s a clip of him at Labour conference
“I grew up” small pause “working class”
applause

Genuinely came across like someone fed Calz’s most pointed comments about him into an ai ad generator

Roman Anthony gets on his horse (gyac), Thursday, 30 May 2024 21:45 (one month ago) link

He's a bandit and a heartbreaker
Oh, his daddy was a toolmaker

during the cultural revolution in China ppl like Starmer's dad would have had struggle board with "bourgeois capitalist roader scum" on it tied around their neck and the red guard's might have thrown him off a bridge after cutting his balls off. Sometimes extremely easy decisions have to be made!

Could you imagine being such a dishonest operator, so lacking in self-awareness and basic human decency that your dad owned the Oxted Toolmaking Company and you went to a posh school, and yet you allude to "struggles" that you have experienced. Fuck and die Kieth.

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Thursday, 30 May 2024 22:21 (one month ago) link

Starmer's dad apparently campaigned for Corbyn in 2017!

glumdalclitch, Thursday, 30 May 2024 22:23 (one month ago) link

(fuck off and die I meant - no more fucking, kieth!)

in 2017 Corbyn was hot!

vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Thursday, 30 May 2024 22:27 (one month ago) link

Well okay but Keir resigned from the shad cab in 2016 so it's fair to assume his dad had/has different politics from him, but of course I don't know more than that. I do remember reading somewhere that his dad was disgusted at his son's behaviour at that time

glumdalclitch, Thursday, 30 May 2024 22:37 (one month ago) link

Err, had, obviously. He died in 2018

glumdalclitch, Thursday, 30 May 2024 22:39 (one month ago) link

wasn't Kieth one of the first chicken coupers to come back into the fold? can't remember. It's not a stretch to imagine his dad wasn't as awful as him, few are.

Uma Kumaran, a Starmer loyalist and former Starmer speechwriter, has been selected for the ultra-safe seat of Stratford and Bow

If I could vote I'd vote for Halima Khan, the whistleblower in the Al-J doc "The Labour Files" - standing as an independent - https://www.ajiunit.com/investigation/the-labour-files/

We also have a candidate from the Revolutionary Communist Party but i'm not sure i'm ready for that

These ludicrous cunts

Pressed on whether he was suggesting that Abbott wasn’t fit to stand as an MP again, Kyle said:

These are real issues about standards, and I’m not going to apologise for the fact that Keir Starmer, when he became leader of the Labour party, raised the standards by which sitting MPs, candidates, anybody that represents the Labour party and speaks on his behalf, are held.

That is why just today another Tory MP endorsed the Labour party That is because of the standards that we’re holding ourselves to and we are holding ourselves to extremely high standards.

*As the rivers flood the country with shit* how do we manage the Prime Ministerial ambitions of Wes Streeting..

The post-election parliamentary Labour party is going to contain more people with ministerial ambition that any governing party to date (including 1997 + 2010). Going to be a hell of a management challenge.

Finally some good news

This isn't just about independent challengers. It's about a lack of enthusiasm for the Labour Party. Many Muslim members left the party over Gaza. These are the foot soldiers Labour usually relies on to knock the doors, leaflet and get the vote out. Losing their core base.

— Taj Ali (@Taj_Ali1) May 31, 2024

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/article/2024/may/31/labour-will-struggle-birmingham-ladywood-voters-gaza-poverty?CMP=share_btn_url

“If I do vote, I won’t vote Labour. And that’s not because of Gaza, that’s because I don’t see them really changing anything,” said Ifthakhar Hussain, a 40-year-old pharmacist who used to back the party. “For me, you’ve got to look at home as well as abroad.

“People can’t access the healthcare system, and inequalities are growing because people can’t get simple medicines. People are coming in here and they’re shocked at the price of paracetamol, liquid for the children and stuff like that. So they’re just not buying it.”

He said Keir Starmer’s decision not to commit to abolishing the two-child benefit cap made him feel like Labour would do little to help places like Ladywood. It has the highest child poverty rate of any constituency in the UK, according to End Child Poverty. More than half the constituency’s children (54.6%) live in poverty, compared with the nationwide average of 30%
