Why's that Andrew?
I'd like Peter Saville to design our logo.

MarkH (MarkH), Saturday, 1 February 2003 12:39 (twenty-one years ago) link

Because a logo gives us some sort of identity other than our words alone. I'd rather have our posts speak for themselves.

Andrew (enneff), Saturday, 1 February 2003 12:40 (twenty-one years ago) link

But the words alone are awful!

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 1 February 2003 13:01 (twenty-one years ago) link

Also, the posts include graphics. (See above.)

Chris P (Chris P), Saturday, 1 February 2003 19:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

i like 'em! my fave is the stevem heart one!! i think that should be the default

geeta (geeta), Saturday, 1 February 2003 21:31 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'll only include ones of limited height (=4 lines of text or less).

Graham (graham), Sunday, 2 February 2003 02:08 (twenty-one years ago) link

Graham, surely there can be a setting so to turn the random logos on or off? That way the antilogo folk can be spared.

Chris P (Chris P), Sunday, 2 February 2003 04:47 (twenty-one years ago) link

i'm with Ed and Andrew on this. What is with the obscene statement of corporate-style branding?

M, Monday, 3 February 2003 01:19 (twenty-one years ago) link

I demand the logos be removed.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 3 February 2003 11:48 (twenty-one years ago) link

obscene statement = just text is luddite and boring and some of us just lurve pretty graphics...the logo means fuck all anyway (its not even a branding issue, esp. as the logo changes all the time) and if anything should amuse the majority of the parish, well it would if we did have a kitten one

stevem (blueski), Monday, 3 February 2003 12:04 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'm all for a logo, especially multiple changing logos. It's not as if it's on every page, and if you bookmark ile and/or ilm seperately you never even have to see it.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Monday, 3 February 2003 12:06 (twenty-one years ago) link

it might be worth making the distinction that there are those of us who just adore the concept of a logo itself, but that doesnt make us heartless capitalist pig-dog robots per se

mind you, i'm not happy with the use of my twee heart logo as such, mainly cos i increased the image size on purpose on this thread, which graham promptly took - but it just doesnt look right on the front page itself.

stevem (blueski), Monday, 3 February 2003 12:14 (twenty-one years ago) link

The new logos are cute. Why does everyone hate fun?

(The twee heart logo is the bestest!!)

rosemary (rosemary), Monday, 3 February 2003 15:37 (twenty-one years ago) link

So is there going to be a decision on this or not? Should we take discussion to 12 ft. lizards?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 3 February 2003 15:49 (twenty-one years ago) link

I could live with the twee heart one but the dog one is freaking me out, dunno why!

smee (smee), Monday, 3 February 2003 15:50 (twenty-one years ago) link

I said it was only a temporary thing. Would everyone be happy if I put some more up and then take them all down at the end of the week? That was always the plan.

Graham (graham), Monday, 3 February 2003 15:50 (twenty-one years ago) link

yeh cool, but lets do it again sometime - on a random basis

stevem (blueski), Monday, 3 February 2003 16:06 (twenty-one years ago) link

wheres mine? boo hoo.

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 3 February 2003 16:25 (twenty-one years ago) link

Too tall, sorry.

Graham (graham), Monday, 3 February 2003 16:26 (twenty-one years ago) link

and the ones that end in 'yo', where are they?

g-kit (g-kit), Monday, 3 February 2003 16:27 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'm sensing an anti-Canadian bias here. ;)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 3 February 2003 16:29 (twenty-one years ago) link

Corporate branding is about having a very specific logo and using it everywhere. This is having multiple random logos and only have them on the entrance page. You see the difference? What's going on now is creative, silly, and fun, and not at all scary or off-putting. (In fact, if you want to go too far with it, you can talk about the ILX aleologo as parodying and taking power away from the tradition logo concept. This is hooey but it's the general idea.)

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 3 February 2003 17:03 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yes! I am pro-random-ILX-logo generator!
How many can you have in there, Graham?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 3 February 2003 17:05 (twenty-one years ago) link

please can we not have mitchs?

gareth (gareth), Monday, 3 February 2003 17:09 (twenty-one years ago) link

The one I did with the devil head is small enough isn't it?

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 3 February 2003 17:09 (twenty-one years ago) link

Too tall I mean.
As many as you like Sarah.
Mitch's?

Graham (graham), Monday, 3 February 2003 17:13 (twenty-one years ago) link

I could live with the twee heart one but the dog one is freaking me out, dunno why!

:(

mandee, Monday, 3 February 2003 17:14 (twenty-one years ago) link

Graham what are the size limitations?

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 3 February 2003 17:14 (twenty-one years ago) link

What did you mean by this then, Graham?

Would everyone be happy if I put some more up and then take them all down at the end of the week?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 3 February 2003 17:14 (twenty-one years ago) link

There's no limit on the number of images, it's just that some people are objecting to there being a logo at all so we should probably stop this at the end of the week and go back to text.

No real size limit, it just needs to look nice in that space at the top.

Graham (graham), Monday, 3 February 2003 17:21 (twenty-one years ago) link

so mine are shite. oh well, i tried.

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 3 February 2003 17:31 (twenty-one years ago) link

Yay Kim, you're in there now!

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:43 (twenty-one years ago) link

hey SOME people are objecting but i notice a lot more people actually LIKE the logos - why oh why oh why must we always pander to a minority of fun-hataz in life ala the government?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:55 (twenty-one years ago) link

Why not set this up as a cookie option from the Settings page? "Show logo yes/no". Set it automatically to "no", and have people opt in? Would that even be workable?

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:59 (twenty-one years ago) link

hahaha we r all mentalists

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 3 February 2003 23:02 (twenty-one years ago) link

Oh, hey. Neat! It's weird the way it looks BIGGER out there somehow.

Kim (Kim), Monday, 3 February 2003 23:03 (twenty-one years ago) link

http://ilxor.petfield.com/images/rabbit.gif

Bunnies, bunnies it must be bunnies!
...or maybe midgets.

Alfie (Alfie), Friday, 7 February 2003 11:26 (twenty-one years ago) link

Awwww! That is so cute!!!

smee (smee), Friday, 7 February 2003 11:30 (twenty-one years ago) link

who created that animated bunny in the first place?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 7 February 2003 13:00 (twenty-one years ago) link

I think it started here, on a Japanese page dedicated to a rabbit called Oolong, who has since gone to bunnyheaven.

Alfie (Alfie), Friday, 7 February 2003 13:04 (twenty-one years ago) link

I vote for Alfie's to be the permanent logo!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 7 February 2003 18:28 (twenty-one years ago) link

So where now for the logo? Should we go back to text?

Graham (graham), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:08 (twenty-one years ago) link

I don't want a logo actually.

Anna (Anna), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:17 (twenty-one years ago) link

text is good

Ed (dali), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:18 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'm happy with it as it is. I like the transcience of not having a set one, but a selection.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:19 (twenty-one years ago) link

Logo's are for squares. We'll have a mission statement next.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:20 (twenty-one years ago) link

No logo

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:50 (twenty-one years ago) link

I'm happier without a logo too (no disrespect to logo-makers of course).

Tim (Tim), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:51 (twenty-one years ago) link

The logos always make me smile. Especially the dog one.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:53 (twenty-one years ago) link

Thanks, Jerry, for supporting my dog.

Mandee, Friday, 21 February 2003 20:47 (twenty-one years ago) link
