I avoided Achewood for a long time because I hate the artwork, but the writing is winning me over.

Glad to hear it. It's perhaps my favourite strip both online and off. The blogs were pretty good as well (when I had time to keep up with them), it's amazing that the characters are so 'credible' and have such distinctive voices.

whoever redid those nemi strips has just listenedto/read bjork interviews.

The explanations Mitch Clem includes underneath his strips are really something. This is for the first one posted in this thread:
Since drawing this comic, it's come to my attention that the above percentage is well over 82%. I base this information solely on the amount of people who were upset after reading said comic and started trying desperately to defend themselves. Listen you guys, you're allowed to do whatever you want, really. But I, for one, am hardly impressed to learn that you know the lyrics to a song (a song), and you will find me nothing short of annoyed if you insist on reciting said lyrics ad nauseam despite my inevitable repeated barks of "PLEASE SHUT THE FUCK UP, NO ONE CARES!".
Victoria does this, of course (anyone who knows her will be none too surprised), but the actual murder victim in the above strip is none other than Tom "Theater Hopper" Brazelton, whose insistence on reciting the "Humpty Dance" (for those of you too young to remember the "Humpty Dance", just close your eyes and try to imagine what it would sound like if the Holocaust were a rap song) once every hour the last time we were at a comic convention together was nothing short of maddening. I'm fairly certain that, at some point, he was just trying to annoy me, and it worked.
Personally, I'd say the fact that I have damn near every Boris the Sprinkler lyric memorized (including all the between-song monologues) is far more impressive, but I generally only break out that skill in the car by myself. I lead a sad, sad life.

I think xkcd may actually be worse than San Antonio Rock City. I dunno what's the most abhorrent thing about xkcd, whether it's the intellectual dishonesty, the smug self-satisfaction, the douchebag IT nerdity, or the fact that it's basically a bunch of "Whether you think you CAN, or you think you CAN'T: you're right" posters for the Open Office generation.

Is the cat drinking a bucket of paint in the first comic posted?
Also, that xkcd thing:
Sean Nichols, a graduate student from the University of Calgary, bought his plane tickets nearly six months in advance, only days after the Dream Girl comic debuted. "I had no real expectations one way or the other," Nichols said. "I just sort of figured, well, it could be a lot of antisocial people standing around sort of looking at each other, or it could be a lot of interesting interaction. And luckily, it seems to be the latter."
Though Munroe had not organized any activities, the participants found multiple ways to entertain themselves and connect with others. Several people were attempting to vertically extend tape measures without bending, a reference to the Tape Measure comic strip. Some used colorful chalk to scrawl computer code on the sidewalk.
Two creative fans even put together a poster of 100 possible conversation topics, while others simply climbed the jungle gym or used the swings. A webcam taped to the swingset broadcast the event online for those who were not able to attend the meetup.
