People who drink soda for breakfast and/or while eating donuts.

I think this is fabulously in the spirit of this thread.

This thread may or may not be the "best", but it went to some length on the subject.

thx Aimless, this one is good too. prefer your link because it opens (in my case anyway) to this post:

my kid is great. dunno about other people's kids.

For some reason every time I see the name "Father John Misty" I want to roll my eyes until they fall out. Something about that name and his public image of some nth-gen folk version of a Jim Morrison ripoff gets on my nerves.

Maybe it's evoking bad memories from a Fleet Foxes-loving ex-roommate who was really into ukulele and wearing suspenders with everything.

Would never cast aspersions on anyone else but since having a baby I've felt really shocked when I think about what I used to do with all my free time and am kind of mad that I don't speak five languages, play several instruments, and have multiple advanced degrees.

Probably has been said before ITT, but every goddamn site now wanting all of your facebook or personal profile info so you can post a stupid comment on an article. Not to mention all the different things like disqus where you have to set up and remember logins for something you use like once every three months.

Probably for the best as it just discourages me from posting pointless comments on articles.

Kroger wanting me to change my password every three months.

No, that's ok, Kroger. If hackers seize my account and delete my shopping list, it will still have been worth it to not have to change my password four times a year.

pplains, Monday, 9 February 2015 16:49 (nine years ago) link

omg yes. Or really any service that requires you log in with Facebook.

Holy shit, Kroger! That's bananas. I am resentful enough that I have to change my work network password every three months. No way I would do that with any other webiste. xp

I don't have a cellphone, but I can use wi-fi. I parked in front of a Books A' Million, and they had the audacity to say I either had to pay for wi-fi or sign in with Facebook. Made me quite IA.

pplains, Monday, 9 February 2015 16:59 (nine years ago) link

IA about the name "Books A' Million". what does it even mean?

koogs, Monday, 9 February 2015 17:17 (nine years ago) link

The Books A Millions in Chicago are all garbage, too. I don't understand how they continue to exist when Borders/Barnes and Noble went tits up.

about a dozen duck supporters (carl agatha), Monday, 9 February 2015 17:18 (nine years ago) link

Same reason cockroaches survive?

They are like the Radio Shack of bookstores. You can't ever find what you want. Nothing seems to be sorted correctly. You have to tango with the cashier for five minutes over their little book club before you can actually make a purchase. And, don't forget, you can still buy one of these things for $100.

The ones in Chicago, at least the last time I bothered to go in, had a dearth of general interest magazines but a surprising selection of porn. So that probably answers my previous question.

about a dozen duck supporters (carl agatha), Monday, 9 February 2015 17:27 (nine years ago) link

Same thing I wonder about airport bookstores: Who the hell is buying porn at these places.

Oh man the college bookstore here has some cheapo radio station that just plays cover versions of popular songs to save money and it's just the worst.

It's a really odd selection of songs too, on a loop

LOL that used to happen a bit on emusic back in the day. Artists that basically didnt have any licencing agreements with emusic would only appear on these DODGY Cleopatra compilations or whatever with a shitty live version or someone else covering the song.

Once in a while I used to get fooled by an artist rerecording on cd or tape, usually some oldies band I didn't really know anything about.

Can a fabric be of such a loose weave that it stretches from being one size to another from being cut to trying to contystruct a pair of jeans. & then do it again when recut?
Something is going seriously weird with this build anyway. I thought I cut the thing to the standard size I've cut all my jeans, then stitched it in a way that should have had it pretty snug only to find out it was a few cm wider when I thought i should be finishing seams before adding a waistband. I then took it in a further 3cm. & now find out that it seems to be too wide again.

Normally wouldn't want to go any narrower at this poiint cos jeans wouldn't go on.

Maybe it is just the fabric. I've been getting good results from a cotton/linen blend now trying a linen/viscose one.
Welll can't keep working on the same thing. & since it was made for a different purpose maybe it's time to relegate it to not fully successful experiment. & finish them to the best I can. Bummer.

Wifi at chain cafes whose sign-in page obliterates all tabs I had open on my browser, not even allowing the Back buttons to get me to where I was.

My work-around is opening Safari first to sign in b/c I never use it, but sometimes I leave Chrome or Firefox open and every tab turns into Welcome to Starbucks! or Panera or whatever. Including pinned tabs.

This shit has ruined my Christmas shopping, research, and work countless times.

a girl with colitis (Je55e), Saturday, 14 February 2015 16:39 (nine years ago) link

Use history.

Jeff, Saturday, 14 February 2015 16:44 (nine years ago) link

Using history is A) needless extra clicking and typing, B) insufficient if the tabs were not loaded very recently and I can't remember exactly what they were, and C) not helpful w/ the annoyance of repinning tabs.

I suppose I should use a session manager (which I would have to install and set up on Chrome).

But still, it's shitty of those signals to fuck up my tabs.
