Squarespace is web hosting where you have a bunch of templates and can easily modify them to make a decent looking business page or whatever without putting in work coding or designing w/ Wordpress.

This is one that happens to me all the time now:

I'm driving along a major road and turn off into a residential area--the car in front of me also turns, but not because they're actually going anywhere. They've just pulled off the busy road to text someone. But instead of pulling to the side of the road, they let their car roll slowly forward, often weaving into the center of the street so they can't be passed. Until they finally cease moving at a stop sign and then just sit there.

last week this odd lady in a parking garage kept repeatedly honking at me for reasons I can't discern last week.

had someone aggressively tailgating me back from Miami last night on a two lane road, weaving side to side in the lane. and couldn't get over immediately cos there were cars clogging the right lane, tho finally was able to.

had some landscaping idiot aggressively (and illegally) pass me in the oncoming lane outside my neighborhood this morning...

lately the scary thing though is people backing out without looking, almost had my driver's side door caved in at least three times in the last two weeks by people who did that as I was going by.

Man, I hate everything involving VR. I hate articles about it, I hate what they look like, I hate commercials that make it seem like something someone wants, I hate the name Occulus Rift. I hate it all. I dunno, I thought the same thing 11 years ago about 3D in films, and they finally got that to work. I tried some VR recently and it's fucking amazing, but clunky and awkward in ways which will probably disappear in another decade at most.

no, 3d in films is still clunky and bad, or at least a gimmick

tbh neither is in the end state, but barring VR-style goggles or some great new screen innovation, 3D movies have a bit of a plateau. it's better than red/blue separation but movies are limited in that they are fixed perspective and on a fixed screen so we'll just get larger aspect ratio, better frame rate, and possibly better separation

vr has always been without an end point and having individualized views at a reasonable framerate is good. the video game starting point for consumer use is nice because virtual worlds now have a walking dimension. watching movies, where the director or dp no longer frame action and you can do a full range of movement, would be weird

the narrative vr video clips are fun but weird because you can draw attention, and you should, but I can still look at a blank wall while a character talks behind me

A door lock that can lock but leave the key the wrong way up to extract. Or that will allow your key to turn in the barrel while attempting to lock it while not doing so. So you have to check that lock has engaged. The idea that you have to arm a lock in a too specific way when you have a head full of flu and you're in a hurry.

Is that common with locks these days.

I'm on an already p. futile quest to look for an artist/painting by searching Google Images for keywords that fit my hazy memory of the painting, which is basically not going to happen anyway, esp since I think it was just by a local-ish amateur artist and adding the place name isn't helping at all

but what's really annoying is that any such quest (see also the ILX thread asking to ID an awesome colourful stripy op-art-ish painting at some Art Basel of yore) brings up a bunch of Pinterest results, like srsly all of my results are at Pinterest apparently, and if you click on one you just arrive at some Pinterest list of eight billion paintings and as soon as you scroll down it goes NUH UH YOU NEED TO LOG IN, NO MORE THUMBNAILS FOR YOU

and even if by any chance the painting you clicked on (or any other painting you have any interest in) is on the first page it doesn't tell you anything about what the painting is or who painted it, it's just like, here are some images without attribution or context, oh noooo you can't see any more of my precious unlabelled images

got a speeding ticket in Valdosta in November - 86 mph in a 70 zone. valid ticket, but here's the fun part about Valdosta tickets

*they don't tell you the amount of your fine on the ticket, by design
*they give you a court appearance date
*Obviously, you can waive that date by pleading guilty - there's a spot on the ticket where you can sign to do just that, except nowhere on the ticket do they give instructions for what you're to do with the ticket after you've signed it (no envelope provided either)
*There are no instructions as to how you can pay your fine if you don't appear in court, no website info or details on how you can find out the amount of your fine
*I easily found the website searching on my own, but to pay it, you have to enter your citation number and fine amount. To get your fine amount, you either have to call a number or look at the schedule of fines they post online and find your violation on there and manually input the amount yourself.
*You make the payment, and then later you get an email telling you if you sent it to the right place and for the right amount or not
*Because I was 16 mph over, I can then get a secondary $200 "super speeder" ticket from the State of Georgia later.

(tbh I'm not really 'angry' so much as I'm fairly sure I figured it out right, just amused at how ridiculously inefficient the whole process is)

I got a speeding ticket here in Southern California, pretty similar runaround bullshit. Best part is the ticket is $35... PLUS any little fee they feel like adding to it. New municipal building fund. New road construction. Starbuck's for the guys in the station fund. So it wound up being $240, would've been $300 if I had opted for traffic school; I'm poor and have a spotless driving record so I had to go for the former.

Just for the record, though, when I lived in NJ I got pulled over twice for speeding and neither time did I get points or a ticket, one dude gave me a warning and the other a small citation for not changing my address on my license (I had just moved and it slipped my mind) which wound up costing nothing when I had proof of changing it. So speed in New Jersey, I guess.

At the Southwest counter there is a monitor that dings and says things like "proceed to clerk 34" or "proceed to clerk 21" or whatever. When it's not dinging it's just showing pictures of Southwest staff making silly faces, which I stared at until they yelled me over, which they would not have had to do if they simply pressed the button and made the monitor ding and say "proceed to counter 21."

That's up there with people who knock gently on my front door instead of pushing the doorbell.
