What's been going on, eh? Someone was saying at the NYC-FAP that it's been quiet, or the UK crowd have been quiet. say it ain't so. (seems unlikely).

Alan (Alan), Monday, 21 October 2002 09:52 (twenty-three years ago)

It's this thing of now having a bad dial-up connection and having to pay for my own net accsess. How's America Alan?

Anna (Anna), Monday, 21 October 2002 09:54 (twenty-three years ago)

it WAS grebt. I've been weighing up posting a load of gibberish thorts about it all -- i don't really blog regularly (i.e. at all) so it seems sort of indulgent to do that on ILX somewhere. on the other hand, what the hell. (i'll have a go later this afternoon after i've checked Loot for houseshares)

I didn't really get much access to the boards cos of the rubbish expensive internet access over there so i just had time to quickly check the meet-up threads. hence my request for a catch up now.

Alan (Alan), Monday, 21 October 2002 09:57 (twenty-three years ago)

VICE magazine consumed us all. 650 posts and about 140 on the new version.

Jess ate the icing.

the UK crowd has been pretty quiet.

Welcome back Alan! Kitten pics please!

jel -- (jel), Monday, 21 October 2002 10:01 (twenty-three years ago)

no kittens. not yet. i heard there was a massive thread about some random mag. what was that all about?

Alan (Alan), Monday, 21 October 2002 10:20 (twenty-three years ago)

The UK crowd has been quiet cos Mark S' mum was ill; Emma was away; Starry was away; Pete has been busy with his fillums and I had the guts.

Tom (Groke), Monday, 21 October 2002 10:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Some of us have been trying to keep the quantity up, if not the quality. Obviously Gareth was away too.

Vice summary: middle class white boys calling black people niggers and homosexuals faggots - classic or dud? Momus: classic! Everyone else: you're an idiot, Momus. It was great.

See also the Carter thread on ILM - best random goggling idiots since I've been around these parts, also we have all learnt about Internet Connection Sharing.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 21 October 2002 11:51 (twenty-three years ago)

katie and ricky T don't seem to be around much either!

I have kept on posting as ever.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 21 October 2002 12:20 (twenty-three years ago)

I have been noisy.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 21 October 2002 12:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I have had a horrid time of it at work of late, and my pc in the new place faces out into the office. Hence less posting.

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 21 October 2002 12:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh yeah, and the girls all lezzed up.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 21 October 2002 12:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Alan, are you getting your daily supply of nachos?

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 21 October 2002 12:39 (twenty-three years ago)

i liked the Carter thread! now where's that vice thread (tho i never really enjoy momus "bland assertion" threads).

M, my steady intake of Taco Bell has unfortunately come to a halt due to the lamentable lack thereof on this island. I haven't suffered any major digestive difficulty despite the change in diet. i will work on it.

Alan (Alan), Monday, 21 October 2002 12:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Thanks for saving me the bother of reading the Vice threads. And welcome back Alang.

Jeff W (Jeff W), Monday, 21 October 2002 13:24 (twenty-three years ago)

cha!
(actually the Vice thread is kind of interesting, but I really must get back to LOOT now...)

Alan (Alan), Monday, 21 October 2002 13:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Alan, are you getting your daily supply of nachos?

Ah yes, I forgot about that Urgent and Key part of that evening. And they weren't even good nachos, but somehow they still worked (then again, in Boston I will take what can be offered).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 21 October 2002 15:50 (twenty-three years ago)

TACO BELL IS EVIL.

(i miss it.)

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 21 October 2002 15:53 (twenty-three years ago)

Let's talk about Loot. I assert that it is bland.

Momus (Momus), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:07 (twenty-three years ago)

was my search for the giant penis in sept or oct?

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:08 (twenty-three years ago)

that's just your typical knee jerk anti-suburb line momus!

loot is where it's at.

the streets = more likely to read loot than vice.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I've never read Loot.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I liked that odd little 'personal announcements' section, which was like a proto-internet bulletin board community, all cliquey and stuff. Do they still have that?

Also, I like it when someone is trying to sell and old sock for 10p and then I feel bad for trivialising poverty.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Jess, all you've got to do is go to Seattle. There's plenty of Taco Bells there! (Alan: I'm really sorry.)

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:11 (twenty-three years ago)

(no no, m. i gave up "fast food" - at least of the chain on every corner variety which is why i can still eat locally made greasy take out ho ho - 3 or 4 years ago and have only lapsed a few times in the interim. [cf. my kfc debacle last feb.])

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Feel the Bell. Love the Bell.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:16 (twenty-three years ago)

I once met some of the ppl who were part of the Loot 'proto-internet bulletin board community'. They were weird and creepy, but not in a gd way.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Taco Bell is hell, but Del Taco is the scum-encrusted lake of liquid fire at the bottom of hell.

I've never read Loot.

Er...the Joe Orton play?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:24 (twenty-three years ago)

the Bell loves you...[[chime, chime]]...honor the Bell-fire...honor the Bell-fry...

hey, wait a minute--I must have bats in MY belfry! ha ha ha! get it? BELL-fry...yeah, well, whatever

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:25 (twenty-three years ago)

oh Jesus Ned did you HAVE to mention them?

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Remember, M., both Taco Bell and Del Taco are based out of Orange County. I have to contemplate their annoying locales daily (and happily avoid them completely).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:27 (twenty-three years ago)

TACO BELL! TACO BELL! TACO BELL!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 21 October 2002 16:34 (twenty-three years ago)

as you can clearly see alan, dan did not take to the EST.
