There is a Tarkus bar in Barcelona. I wanted to steal a beermat, but none of them had the name of the bar on.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 12:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Did they have the tarkus picture on them?

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 12:03 (twenty-three years ago)

But did they have Tankpuss?

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 12:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Or Bangbus?

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 12:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Or Catbus?

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 12:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I am getting confused. Did I make up Tankpuss?

whereabouts in Barcelona? is it actually called Tarkus or something else?

arantxa, Wednesday, 23 October 2002 12:27 (twenty-three years ago)

You know, i have a vague memory of seeing a bar in Barceloona called Tarkus too. ISTR having to explain why this was significant to the non-mentalist, I mean non-ILE, friends I was with at the time.

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 12:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes it is actually called Tarkus, but I couldn't tell you where it was without looking at a map for a while, or at least finding the address of the apartment I was staying in.

Alan - I started laughing and was at a loss to explain why it was funny too.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 12:42 (twenty-three years ago)

I mentioned the Tarkus bar here some time ago, to deafening silence. I was expecting everyone to book flights immediatley. It is called Bar Tarkus, and it's on C/ Avinyo and is usually shut. When it isn't shut it's full of old men, as opposed to prog-lovers. Unless the prog-lovers turn up later on. The owner looks a bit ELO, I suppose. I've never been inside. To tell the truth, I've only ever seen it open once.

Well,it is a bit bizarre that it is usually SHUT, as opposed as being always shut or permanently out of business or something, isn't it?

I kept seeing "Tankpuss poster in Urban Outfiters" in the new answers but I resisted the urge to make a comment and then I go and finally look at it...

It is obviously a front for something.

We just like our privacy, that's all.

I think perhaps it caters to Creatures of the Night, or Early Evening.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 13:40 (twenty-three years ago)

On the plus side, it is the big metal shutter which has TARKUS painted across it in huge letters, so to a certain extent SHUT is OPEN in this case.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Wednesday, 23 October 2002 13:53 (twenty-three years ago)

it's full of old men, as opposed to prog-lovers

your distinctions are too subtle for me.
