I bought a Moomin alarm clock when I went to Finland. "How cute!" I thought. But when the little fucker wakes me up on cold winter mornings at 5.30 telling me I have to get the first train to London, it loses its appeal.

We also have a Moomin shaped cake tin. I am not ashamed.

It occurs to me that I need to go to Finland. I hope next summer's Koneisto lineup is cool. (I can't find my teach-yourself-Finnish books that I've never got past the first chapter of, though...)

We got the cake tin in a little shop in Gamla Stan, Stockholm. I remembered it being chock full of Moominabelia, but when we went this year it had gone over to Sanrio hell.

Many children were horrified by her, were scared to go to sleep because of her, having dreams of her chasing them or turning into the Groke (some examples of such dreams could be found on the myslalemże.pl portal before it got shut down around the early 2010s). The defunct portal Grono.net even had an Anti-Groke forum called ANTY-BUKA, where people would share their childhood stories about the Groke.
