I once (in 10th grade) was so in love with a friend's zippered hoodie (brand BASCO, from Barney's, with an orange/green/blue check exterior and a bright orange terry cloth lining) that I stole it from him! I don't think I'd ever stolen anything before. We went to different schools so I could wear it with impugnity. And its effect was magical, absolutely freeing.

I once wore out a chambray work shirt to the point where one day I put it on and as I was putting my second arm through its sleeve, the back of the shirt ripped apart vertically about 8 inches. It was like ripping a piece of Kleenex. That was the most dramatic example, but when I like a piece of clothing a lot I tend to wear it until it is faded, stained, and frayed to the point where it is simply not wearable any longer.

Probably whatever the next project is.
JUst finishing a purple cord Frock coat.
Could be one of several African waxed cotton shirts.
Or a grey pin striped islamic waistcoat that fell apart all tooo soon and is waiting for me to clone in the striped drill I have left over from doing a frock coat early last year.
Could be the leather biker jacket i lost at the Black Flag Marquee show in 84 which I had for way too short a time.
Or the cosmic Regal doctor shirt which had stars and space in orange on it.
Or one of several grandad wool overcoats, though possibly the green leather german motorcycle courier coat I had back in '88.
or one of several jeans jackets I made over the last couple of years.
Can't decide.

I had a white linen shirt with passants that I got at the Levi's store probably ten or more years ago that I loved, and I finally got rid of it last week after yet another button came loose. This is after replacing all of the buttons because I couldn't find any more that matched the originals - I probably spent close to $100 over the years getting this shirt repaired, for something that couldn't have cost more than $40 at the time.
