I use the winky winky emoticon all the time, but I think if I ever winked at someone for real I'd throw myself under a truck. What about you?

(Alternately, share Being Winked At horror stories here.)

I sometimes wink. I like it when people wink at me.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 24 October 2002 13:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I really like winking. I have an aunt who used to wink at me alot when I was little. I thought it was our little secret. But now I think maybe she just had a twitch. Anyway, I am totally pro-wink.
;)

When I was little I couldn't wink for some reason. I can now but only in a hugely exaggerated way which is of course utterly charming and doesn't make me look at all foolish or saucy-postcardesque at all, oh no.

Emma, Thursday, 24 October 2002 13:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I love wanking

haha, sorry, it had to be done, Thursday, 24 October 2002 13:48 (twenty-three years ago)

I wink a lot, yes. It's good.

You're all creeps. ;-)

My boss winks at me all the time, but he has such a bizarre, rambunctious, extrovert personality that I don't take it personally.

ch. (synkro), Thursday, 24 October 2002 14:03 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm a bigtime sucka for a wink

minna (minna), Thursday, 24 October 2002 14:33 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't wink. I've never been able to. It's really pathetic when I try.

liz! (liz!), Thursday, 24 October 2002 14:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Emma's wink is really very entertaining.

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 24 October 2002 14:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I couldn't wink. Then, one day, my left eye started, then my right eye, and since then I haven't stopped.

(Actually I haven't, because my vision is a slightly different colour through each eye, so I can spend days alternating between them and grinning)

Graham (graham), Thursday, 24 October 2002 14:38 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't wink. But the woman who processed my credit card payment for my haircut winked kindly at me the other day.

David (David), Thursday, 24 October 2002 14:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I think I have the face of a pervert, so winking is just kept to annoy ex-girlfriends. V to thread?

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 24 October 2002 15:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Emma looks as if she is parodying winking rather than actually winking. I don't do it here, let alone IRL. There is one web dating site that I use that has an option underneath bookmark the person, write to the person and the like, which says 'Wink at' whoever it is. It sounds an appalling way of making contact with anyone, so I haven't tried it yet.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 24 October 2002 18:01 (twenty-three years ago)

i wink very badly, i look stupid if i try and dont actually like it much as a form of expression. it has always seemed to me to be a bit icky somehow.
when i worked in a bar some of the clientele would wink at me, and i hated it.

donna (donna), Thursday, 24 October 2002 18:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't wink, either. If I try, I just end up scrunching up one side of my face-it's not very attractive. I really wish I could, though. And I love being winked at. It's sexy.
