Simeon (Simeon), Friday, 25 October 2002 15:01 (twenty-three years ago)

He's wearing shoes in the picture I've got here ('Spectrum Guide to Ethiopia'), he broke the world marathon record in 1992 or something.

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Friday, 25 October 2002 15:02 (twenty-three years ago)

don;t buy sandals in the fall/winter

g (graysonlane), Friday, 25 October 2002 15:47 (twenty-three years ago)

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 25 October 2002 15:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 25 October 2002 15:56 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, me too actually.

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 25 October 2002 15:57 (twenty-three years ago)

mitch, earlier today: if "we haven't discussed my scrotum and testicles" isn't an anthony thread i will leave ilx forever.

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 25 October 2002 15:58 (twenty-three years ago)

does this mean my ilxor sign is anthony?

minna (minna), Friday, 25 October 2002 15:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Aaron A., Friday, 25 October 2002 16:07 (twenty-three years ago)

good lord, those are scary.

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 25 October 2002 16:11 (twenty-three years ago)

what the fuck are those things!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are those Patrick Swayze's shoes from "Road House"?

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 25 October 2002 16:12 (twenty-three years ago)

anyway, minna you should buy those i posted the picture of because girls who wear those are invariably hot.

(and, after all, that's all that matters, right?)

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 25 October 2002 16:13 (twenty-three years ago)

those are Snakers (wish I knew the trademark tag), sneakers made from luxurious snakeskin, circa '86.

Aaron A., Friday, 25 October 2002 16:15 (twenty-three years ago)

man, i love the 80s so much.

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 25 October 2002 16:16 (twenty-three years ago)

snakers are amazing!

what kind are those hot girl ones?

minna (minna), Friday, 25 October 2002 16:17 (twenty-three years ago)

sauconys.

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 25 October 2002 16:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Minna you're in a bind: that second pair is nice-looking, but take it from me, that goat-skinny material will kill your feet unless they've done some fancy western-world job of softening it up. Anyway post-picturethread they don't seem very much your style.

Buy an Ethiopian shirt instead! Here you go, here is a picture of a white girl in an Ethiopian men's shirt:

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 25 October 2002 16:35 (twenty-three years ago)

from his extensive collection of photos of white girls in native garb.

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 25 October 2002 16:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Or rather, here:

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 25 October 2002 16:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, right, geocities, just go there yourself:

http://www.geocities.com/wesleahjordan/scenes_and_people_page2_files/image005.jpg

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 25 October 2002 16:38 (twenty-three years ago)

nitsuh are you implying that i'm not hardcore enough to be a warrior and that i should just give up and go to sunday school?

minna (minna), Friday, 25 October 2002 17:03 (twenty-three years ago)

No, you just have to understand that properly rocking the sandals would involve wearing really really short shorts and a shirt like that and a big linen wrap around your upper body (and a walking stick).

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 25 October 2002 17:26 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't see how that would dissuade anyone, Nabisco.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 25 October 2002 17:28 (twenty-three years ago)

(It's less dissuasion and more "start with the shirt," Dan. It's like a kick-ass Ethiopian tomboy kind of look, I really dig it.)

nabisco (nabisco), Friday, 25 October 2002 17:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Minna, Wearing some ugly-ass sandals does not make you a warrior. If that were the case, Dead Heads would be the most feared para-military force on the planet.

http://members.telocity.com/knolson/pictures/shoe16.jpg

Now if you gets some shoes like this it will either make you look like an American Indian, or like David Crosby during his stint with The Byrds. It is up to you to decide if that is a risk you would like to take.

Mike Taylor (mjt), Friday, 25 October 2002 21:06 (twenty-three years ago)

yes, especially the furry ones. Why wouldn't you?

felicity (felicity), Friday, 25 October 2002 21:13 (twenty-three years ago)

felicity, it's just a matter of being practical and remembering that 99% of shoes don't fit my spatulate feet, otherwise, bam! i'd be there.

thank you for your words of wisdom all.... i like the top nitsuh but i think it would probably look better on the boy.

those moccassins are sooo last autumn mike.

i will now focus my energies on finding snakers in my size.

minna (minna), Saturday, 26 October 2002 14:42 (twenty-three years ago)

'spatulate'!

Josh (Josh), Saturday, 26 October 2002 15:03 (twenty-three years ago)

yes. they are like duck feet with toes and an instep. well, they are like spatulas with toes.

minna (minna), Saturday, 26 October 2002 15:11 (twenty-three years ago)

http://www.casarocca.com/images/gif/sketches/spatulate_shapes_sketches.gif

at least they're not extreme spatulate

minna (minna), Saturday, 26 October 2002 15:12 (twenty-three years ago)

minna, for the love of christ, please don't buy those shoes.

mark p (Mark P), Saturday, 26 October 2002 17:03 (twenty-three years ago)

They look...wrong. Plus they seem like the kind of shoe that would leave you all blistered and bleedy and sore.
