How Does It Feel When You Are The Only Person Posting On ILX?

I seem to be the only person here at 9:26am. I went to the Royal Albert Hall last night, I saw Asha Bhosle, it was quite cool. Standing so high up was a bit diorientating at first.

So, what have you been up to?

Has anyone seen Donnie Darko? I'm thinking of seeing it tomorrow.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 26 October 2002 07:29 (twenty-three years ago)

and of course in this situation you have to resort to new answers!

and last night I was gonna go to Pokemon Live but it got cancelled :( and I dunno if I've got a refund yet (more phoning call centres, oh no!)

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 26 October 2002 07:31 (twenty-three years ago)

I am now singing Estranged in my head "you're talking to yourself, but nobody's home (alone)"

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 26 October 2002 07:39 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah go see donnie d

bob zemko (bob), Saturday, 26 October 2002 08:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Jel I'm sorry about Pokemon :(

I went out, got bored, came home. I made a pic for the Photoshop Fun w/ Ilxors thread, but just realized I have nowhere to host it :(

Today is shaping up to be a frowny faced day.

ch. (synkro), Saturday, 26 October 2002 08:30 (twenty-three years ago)

ch. (synkro), Saturday, 26 October 2002 08:48 (twenty-three years ago)

I have been reading To The Lighthouse and wondering if I should continue: it's sublime but must have been written in another universe. ;-)

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 26 October 2002 10:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm going to the theatre tonight, for the first time in many years - my new girlfriend (I hope that's an apt word! Early days!) has some free tickets for a play called Eden. I don't know if it'll be good or not. I don't imagine it will be much to do with Pokemon or Hindi film music.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 26 October 2002 10:32 (twenty-three years ago)

hope the date goes well martin!

I think I shall go off to the shops now.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 26 October 2002 11:07 (twenty-three years ago)

"I have been reading To The Lighthouse and wondering if I should continue: it's sublime but must have been written in another universe. ;-) "

Synchronicity alert! I am also reading To The Lighthouse Nathalie and I luvit luvit luvit.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Saturday, 26 October 2002 11:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Nath and Tim are secretly the SAME PERSON. This explains Tim's Belgian accent. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 26 October 2002 13:32 (twenty-three years ago)

went to the shops today. after this its reading and writing.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Saturday, 26 October 2002 14:16 (twenty-three years ago)

is that a portrait of gene simmons?

minna (minna), Saturday, 26 October 2002 14:31 (twenty-three years ago)

yep! gene simmons is in that painting, well spotted!

Went to Rough Trade in Portobello in the end, saw the bass player from Feeder telling some guy that their new album is out this week.

Got some CD's: Of Montreal, Butterflies of Love, Swan Dive, The Waving Tree (haven't listened to them yet), and Freezepop which is good!

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 26 October 2002 15:03 (twenty-three years ago)

jel I thought that said you bought swans and of montreal and I was quite pleased. now I am a bit less pleased but oh well.

Josh (Josh), Saturday, 26 October 2002 15:04 (twenty-three years ago)

nb it was not the of montreal that pleased me.

Josh (Josh), Sunday, 27 October 2002 04:58 (twenty-three years ago)

it feels like this

ron (ron), Sunday, 27 October 2002 08:29 (twenty-three years ago)

hi ron!

the of montreal isn't really pleasing me either josh!

my house is rattling today, the wind is so strong!

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 27 October 2002 08:36 (twenty-three years ago)

some 'public castration is a good idea' would change that in a hurry

Josh (Josh), Sunday, 27 October 2002 15:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Let me echo all this Swans commentary, of course. RARGH.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 27 October 2002 15:50 (twenty-three years ago)

I went to one of the gigs on 'Public Castration...'. And I had to ask for that alb by name when I couldn't find it in a record shop.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Sunday, 27 October 2002 16:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Just had a really weird dream...

It was about the last thoughts of a dying wasp (though it looked like an augmented wasp). At first it was sitting on the side of the basin, and I wanted to clean my teeth, but didn't want to get stung. So, I just sat in bed watching some very strange TV show which would keep getting interrupted by a man saying "this of course, was not real". The wasp flew up to the open window, and hovered there for a moment, I was wishing for it to fly away, instead it settled on a wall mounted lamp, and that's when I could hear her thoughts "I wish I had listened to my father, but I am too weak now". I was now thinking that I was late for work, I thought about finishing off the wasp with a quick swipe of the newspaper. Then I woke up

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 27 October 2002 16:35 (twenty-three years ago)

In what way did the wasp look augmented? Silicone breasts?

My best ever asking for an album I couldn't find was in Mister CD on Berwick Street, London (I mention this because I know Andrew at least knows it well): "Do you have 'Nigga Please' by Ol' Dirty Bastard?".

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 27 October 2002 17:04 (twenty-three years ago)

it had an extra long stinger martin! (that's not a new euphemism)

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 27 October 2002 17:10 (twenty-three years ago)

damn, I was hoping it had silicone breasts. Pity.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 27 October 2002 17:17 (twenty-three years ago)

I try not to post on a Saturday night so that it looks like I have more of a social life.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Sunday, 27 October 2002 17:20 (twenty-three years ago)

wow jel you have cool dreams. my dreams are boring

ron (ron), Sunday, 27 October 2002 17:21 (twenty-three years ago)

the key to weird dreams is taking an afternoon nap!

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 27 October 2002 17:22 (twenty-three years ago)

jel, did you ever know that you're my hero?

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 27 October 2002 17:26 (twenty-three years ago)

jel reads too much PK Dick

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 27 October 2002 17:28 (twenty-three years ago)

(wow! thankyou kim!)

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 27 October 2002 17:30 (twenty-three years ago)

i am very big on naps. sometimes i mess up and go to sleep at 6pm or so, then i'm really fux0red when i wake up at 11 pm and cant get back to sleep til 3

ron (ron), Sunday, 27 October 2002 17:32 (twenty-three years ago)

You can't read too much Philip K Dick!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 27 October 2002 17:47 (twenty-three years ago)

So this is how it feels to be lonely. This is how it feels to be small. This is how it feels when your word means nothing at all.

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 27 October 2002 17:52 (twenty-three years ago)

I like the change in meaning between 'word' and 'world,' actually.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 27 October 2002 18:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I just downloaded songs from Minder! yay!

"What Are We Gonna Get 'Er Indoors?" = the blueprints for the streets! (just kidding!)

Good evening.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 27 October 2002 19:51 (twenty-three years ago)

thats the greatest record ever made though!

gareth (gareth), Sunday, 27 October 2002 20:56 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, it's pretty damn good!

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 27 October 2002 22:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh today was uneventful. I ate 3 jam doughnuts, and read a book on bodily communication.

I did have another weird dream, it was about a botanical garden that was full of strange and beautiful fauna and flora. But there was this really evil little furry thing with sharp teeth that attacked my friend. We ran and got away, and ended up in the corridors of an average looking office block. The meaning is not so hard to work out I think.

I told my dad the weird dream from yesterday and he said "I hate to say it, but Freud would say it was sexual!" "ah phooey Freud is a perv!"

jel -- (jel), Monday, 28 October 2002 19:57 (twenty-three years ago)

I have a headache, I'm gonna sit in the dark and listen to windy and carl.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 28 October 2002 20:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Now that I have that New Answers thing figured out, it makes me feel like I'm the only poster sometimes. I get to where I'm not seeing much red (ie: new message notices) and I begin to worry if I'm a bit obsessed.
It's cold & rainy out. I should be at home in bed with a good book.
In better news, I only have 2 hours left of work today.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 28 October 2002 20:06 (twenty-three years ago)

one month passes...
I might not be this morning, I dunno!

Last night I saw the Manics, they played alot of their old songs (slash n burn, little baby nothing, life becoming a landslide, stay beautiful, you love us, from despair to where, roses in the hospital. motown junk, motorcycle emptiness, suicide is painless) It was great, though the songs from after the Holy Bible all sound the same.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 8 December 2002 10:27 (twenty-three years ago)

The Manics sort of annoy me now but it's going to be really depressing if they break up before I get the chance to see them, seeing as how they were my favorite band for like two years. (Heh another US tour is SO likely considering they have like six fans here) (I am not counting 15-year-old girls obv)

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Sunday, 8 December 2002 10:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't think they'll break up! They are in the fourth stage of rock'n'roll which can last for like 30+ years:

Stage 1: The Rise
Stage 2: The Plateau
Satge 3: The Decline

The Rock'n'Roll lifecycle can end at any of these satges, but if they survive all 3, they enter the:

Stage 4: The Endlessly Recycled Greatest Hits Album and Tour (see Rolling Stones etc).

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 8 December 2002 10:52 (twenty-three years ago)

I was stuck on the Jubilee Line with loads of MSP fans returning from Wembley, boy they all WHIFFED TO HIGH HEAVEN!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 9 December 2002 16:57 (twenty-three years ago)

I wish they'd split up before I had the chance to see them

Tim (Tim), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:00 (twenty-three years ago)

*slaps Tim around the face with a soggy haddock*

Sarah (starry), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:05 (twenty-three years ago)

mmm... fishy

Tim (Tim), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Pretty pretty fishies.

alix (alix), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:13 (twenty-three years ago)

with shiny scales and dull eyes

Tim (Tim), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:14 (twenty-three years ago)

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH SELF-CONTROL I AM EXERTING RIGHT NOW.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Stay strong, Dang. Try not to think of the fishies.

Tim (Tim), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Fishy fishy!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:22 (twenty-three years ago)

AAAAARGH.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:24 (twenty-three years ago)

FISHY FISHY

alix (alix), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Thing is, you can't actually hear the way I say it. Sarah knows though. I want some dinner.

alix (alix), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:26 (twenty-three years ago)

http://blowfishsushi.citysearch.com/33.gif

Tim (Tim), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:27 (twenty-three years ago)

We can imagine, Lixi. Don't underestimate us.

Graham (graham), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Okay, "I want some dinner," almost pushed me over the edge. I WILL NOT GIVE IN.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I just ate crisps! I am ok for dinner. I am going to go to Hamleys soon to get a birthday present. This is a good thing as I am coming up with mentalist party ideas! My latest idea is a Kate Bush theme party.

NO NO NO I have THORT about it!!! Hard blokes who don't wanna dress up could wear ARMY GEAR like army dreamers, people with leftover halloween costumes could come as HAMMER HORROR, Ice T could come as the kanga featured in THE DREAMING, the list is endless!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:31 (twenty-three years ago)

I have just realised that I meant to write that somewhere completely different!

Lixi do you want Chinese dinner again?

Sarah (starry), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:32 (twenty-three years ago)

I am eating healthy things from now on so that the doctor cannot frown at me next time I visit her. I shall go to Sainsbury's on my way home and buy lots of wegetables and fresh FISHY FISHY and make some nice healthy tea. Not fish tea though. Besides, the chinese last night made me feel like I had eaten the moon I was so full.

alix (alix), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Cor will you buy me a MARROW? I want to roste one.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I went home by bus.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:49 (twenty-three years ago)

And was sensibly seated at the back of the arena.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:50 (twenty-three years ago)

If you like I can get you a marrow. I am currently looking at the fucking effect of the fucking Norman Conquest on the fucking English language, so may be some time, so do not expect your marrow to appear quickly.

alix (alix), Monday, 9 December 2002 17:59 (twenty-three years ago)

alix, use this answer for max points: LAMB DRESSED AS MUTTON!!

mark s (mark s), Monday, 9 December 2002 18:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Hahahahaha. I think it's gonna take more than that though. Luckily it's an easy question.

alix (alix), Monday, 9 December 2002 18:39 (twenty-three years ago)

It is strangely alluring

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 16 December 2002 03:12 (twenty-three years ago)

"The fucking Norman Conquest changed the fucking English language Quite A Bit. The End."

There. That should cover it.

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 16 December 2002 11:37 (twenty-three years ago)

four months pass...
12:47pm, seem to be the only person here. I'm going to have lunch. I dreamt that the wind was howling and the rain was lashing against the window.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 19 April 2003 10:49 (twenty-three years ago)

1:56pm, i'm here too. in 4 minutes it'll be time to feed the dogs.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 19 April 2003 10:53 (twenty-three years ago)

oh, hey mitch! how ya doing?

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 19 April 2003 10:56 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm good, and yourself? it's the second day of a 2 week vacation and i'm already bored. which should i start reading first, "middlemarch" or "bleak house"?

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 19 April 2003 11:09 (twenty-three years ago)

You're not the only one: there's a few more. But sometimes I feel like the only one posting. Not much difference from the other days: I still feel like noone's reading my posts. RON, WAAAASHUP? :-)

nathalie (nathalie), Saturday, 19 April 2003 11:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I liked "Middlemarch". It takes a little while to get into it, but then it's very engaging. So I thought, anyway.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Saturday, 19 April 2003 14:07 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd recommend finding a different book, Mitch.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 19 April 2003 14:50 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd recommend finding a different bitch, Mook.

Chris P (Chris P), Saturday, 19 April 2003 14:51 (twenty-three years ago)

i'd go with bleak house, as I prefer that title.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 19 April 2003 15:22 (twenty-three years ago)

required university reading, Martin! i've been fooling myself that bleak house is going to turn out to be about memphis bleek but it isn't helping.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Saturday, 19 April 2003 15:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't know if I am, but it feels a little like it

luna (luna.c), Saturday, 19 April 2003 22:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I think I'm one of three pppl posting on ILX right now. Martin is one of the others. And it's 4.02pm, UK time, so there should be more, shouldn't there?

Maybe they're all too busy chomping Easter eggs!

MarkH (MarkH), Sunday, 20 April 2003 13:55 (twenty-three years ago)

i suggest everyone on ilx go play those online games that orisinal.com (check the 'online games' thread). the music in the first game (the one with the slingshot-wielding turtle riding on the bunny's back) evokes bucolic pastoral idylls better than anything nick drake ever did.

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Sunday, 20 April 2003 14:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I've been busy attacking Calum on another thread. I'm used to being one of the few here at weekends.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 20 April 2003 14:24 (twenty-three years ago)

feels cold and lonely.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 20 April 2003 14:55 (twenty-three years ago)

What feels worse is when you post on ILX, but others complain that thay feel THEY are the only ones posting on ILX.

*Wailing and gnashing teeth*

jewelly (jewelly), Sunday, 20 April 2003 14:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm sure the newness will wear off, but for now I'm here in an almost obsessive capacity.

Kenan Hebert (kenan), Sunday, 20 April 2003 15:02 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not complaining BTW. I like the cold and loneliness.

(though if you want to warm me up jewelly then that's fine ;-))

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 20 April 2003 15:03 (twenty-three years ago)

five years pass...

I seem to be the only person posting at 10:47am on a Sunday morning.

I am listening to Tristania. I have a nasty bruise on my side, I fell off a guitar amp. I was balancing on it whilst putting things on a bookshel. Oh well.

Autobot Lover (jel --), Sunday, 28 September 2008 09:48 (seventeen years ago)

I am going to the park now.

Then I am going to see Tropic Thunder.

You're just going to have get by without me for a while. I hope you'll be okay.

Autobot Lover (jel --), Sunday, 28 September 2008 09:50 (seventeen years ago)
