Helm always seemed the most rubbish of the three. I mean, a talking helmet, what's the point of that? still, there were those stories were he was revealed to have creepy mind control powers when people other than Rogue put him on.

The stupidest bio-chips story was that origin one where it was revealed that they'd all been called Helm, Gunnar and Bagman before they ended up in the helm, gun and backpack, a turn of events which in retrospect suddenly looked somewhat too convenient.

Colin Wilson was the best, with his dirty cyberpunk look.
The writing was shite though... the Norts all had hero guns (guns unable to shoot heroes), and while it went for a "War-Is-Hell" schtick, any of the characters in it who had opted out of the war were portrayed as irredeemably bad.
It had its moments, though. the fortress where all the defenders had gone mad and thought they were in the Napoleonic Wars was a particular favourite.
The story where Bagman's biochip was damaged and he went mad was a larf.
