Ways your days are unique

I was just lying on the floor reading my newspaper when I spotted out the corner of my eye (or to be more truthful, the top of my eye) a CD that had fallen down the back of the radiator. I was quite excited for a moment, thinking that I was about to rediscover something that'd been lost for ages, but upon retrieval it turned out only to be The Coral.

Is my experience unique in the whole of human history? Who knows? Has anybody here had a completely banal thing happen to them recently that they feel might never have happened to anyone else?

things/object/movements often move in slow motion for me.
or ill turn around and simply not feel part of it all.

If the world goes into slow motion for you, I wouldn't call it banal. You must be that guy from The Matrix.

Today I bought both a copy of the wrestling magazine Powerslam and the complete works of Dorothy Parker in the same purchase. I doubt anyone else ever has done that.

I <3 combinations like that! I fondly remember an afternoon watching videos with Andrew L and a couple of other friends, 15 years ago, I guess it was: we watched a lengthy documentary on the American abstract expressionists, then Carry On Cowboy. That most everyone here will be able to think of such examples that is one of the things I love best about ILE.

Tried to make hash brownies, failed completely, but got the perfect 'human excrement' substitute if anyone is filming a sequel to the '120 Days' (hint - use insufficient amount of instant brownie mix, heat at 220 degrees for 30 minutes then leave in oven overnight). Also saw a wino pick a sandwich out of a trash can and remove the tomatoes before eating it

yesterday i got cheques from an art magazine and a porn magazine. Today I have a meeting with the western catholic reporter.

anthony easton (anthony), Saturday, 26 October 2002 17:54 (twenty-three years ago)

i stood outside last night watching the sky and when i saw a shooting star i knew my ex would ring within the next 5 minutes to tell me our beloved dog is very ill.
he did, and she is.

donna (donna), Saturday, 26 October 2002 18:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Yesterday I continuing reading an in-depth discussion of the French and Indian War and then saw puppets laugh at a movie while uploading fake Japanese psychedelia. All after having had some nachos. Er.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 26 October 2002 19:54 (twenty-three years ago)

I would be willing to bet on dom's never having happened before, but not anthony's or ned's. hmm.

Josh (Josh), Sunday, 27 October 2002 04:22 (twenty-three years ago)

You're probably right.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 27 October 2002 05:17 (twenty-three years ago)

A theremin player stuck her tongue out at me yesterday and then I got drunk.

dubious

Josh (Josh), Monday, 28 October 2002 05:11 (twenty-three years ago)

My days are unique because they usually begin around 6pm and end around 9am. My sleeping patterns are FUCKED lately.

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 28 October 2002 07:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, no shit. I went to bed at 3am and woke up at 8am, drove in to uni, handed in an assignment, and drove home and slept from 9:15am until 12:30pm.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 28 October 2002 07:11 (twenty-three years ago)

And now I feel really weird, also because it's 6:12 and it feels like midday.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 28 October 2002 07:12 (twenty-three years ago)

The thought of Dave Q trying to make brownies is so cute.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 28 October 2002 14:41 (twenty-three years ago)

In the past hour, I've researched knitting patterns and Nashville Pussy lyrics.

Yesterday I had the fear on the tube with women with Shelly Duval eyes - I had to shut my eyes in FEAR!!!

I don't usually have psychosis though.

Today I had sossidge EG chips and BEANS for lunch and boy it was tasty guts!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 28 October 2002 15:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Every day for every person is unique because we are all special magic butterflies.

Starry, I had sossidge EG bacon BEANS and TO4ST for lunch, no chips though, worse luck. Chizz etc.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 28 October 2002 15:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I had the Cornish Pastie because it looked healthier than the Scotch Pie.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 28 October 2002 15:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Gosh, is that like a Scotch Egg but in PIE form? Soundz great. And it would have made your day unique, possibly through violent illness and a hospital stomach-pumping episode. And are there genuine corns in those pasties, or are they just...corn_ish_?

I'll stop now.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Monday, 28 October 2002 15:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Gosh, is that like a Scotch Egg but in PIE form?

No. Shettleston Scotch pies don't look nearly as wholesome as these - the inside is grey and when you bite into them they drip grease all down your front.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 28 October 2002 16:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Yesterday when I returned from the shower, I'd left the TV on and Dawson's Creek had just started, and Joey was on the screen and she looked exactly 6 years old, then it cut to this guy with 70s hair, so I thought "Right, flashback sequence", but then it cut to a group shot and 6 year old Joey was the same height as 70s guy and her college-age friend, and i was like whuh? and it was just a present day thing and Joey always looks like that and this scared me.

Graham (graham), Monday, 28 October 2002 16:24 (twenty-three years ago)

I had lunch with this chap today. (far from banal - 'twas lovely, in fact).

Kirsty Cuzz, Monday, 28 October 2002 17:59 (twenty-three years ago)

No, no - you want the namedropping thread over there.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 28 October 2002 21:41 (twenty-three years ago)

steven duffy looks a wee bit like the pinefox in that pic.
