Has anyone here ever done a course at the London School of Journalism?
http://www.lsj.org/
I might be interested in doing a distance learning course, so I would appreciate any advice from those in the know.

Thanks in advance.

I was gonna do the same thing as I did on the KLC thread (RSJ, LSE), but I'll refrain. Sorry I can be of no help.

Don't worry, Martin, I think you might be able to help when I formulate my Radical Career Change question.

Are you planning on becoming a roving reporter on garden design issues, PJ? I'm imagining a cross between Alan Titchmarsh and Woodward and Bernstein.

I'm always very dubious about these distance learning things, being as they appear beside YOU CAN BE AN ARTIST and GET YOURSELF PUBLISHED small ads.

Good short courses for wannabe journalists in England: London College of Printing.

Thanks for the tip, Suzy, I saw the LSJ advertised in The Guardian's Sad Old Gits section. You type in 'writer' and this kind of thing comes out, alongside jobs reviewing video games. What puts me off more than anything is the fact that quite a bit of the course looks kind of old hat if you've read even a minimum of books on the subject.

Jerry, the KLC query was on behalf of Mrs Sister Disco. We're both on a Radical Career Change tip, so you can imagine what fun our house is at the moment. I'm under no illusions as to becoming a roving reporter, not least because you need a driving licence, I just thought it would do me good one way or another.

Radical Career Change

The Welding courses at Colch*ster Inst*tute are fantastic, really, a national reputation. And there are, of course, fringe benefits as we have discussed before now.

Don't tempt me, Dave.

Peter seems sad these days and it makes me sad in my heart.
