The 'evidence of a crime' box checked off is also nice to see so starkly. pic.twitter.com/OZkxV84oKl

We will all owe him a great big apology.

Josh in Chicago, Thursday, 18 August 2022 19:49 (one year ago) link

If you need to look for "evidence" to "prove" that someone "committed a crime" then you must suck at investigating

French Fries are were vegetables. French fries are vegetables that have become their final, perfect form.

heh

Two former White House officials, who had been designated as among Mr. Trump’s representatives with the archives, received calls and tried to facilitate the documents’ return.

Mr. Trump resisted those calls, describing the boxes of documents as “mine,” according to three advisers familiar with his comments.

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 23 August 2022 01:09 (one year ago) link

Explains the weird posture.

*dark thoughts*

you all seem so convinced of his stupidity. I don’t think he’s stupid at all. he's going to finesse everything.

delays are his intended effect, there will be more and more delays, and maybe the court cases wont be resolved before he is elected president again, when he will be literally free from consequences

I would like Merrick Garland to come through but I don't think he will

Dan S, Tuesday, 23 August 2022 01:59 (one year ago) link

you realize the reason he succeeded at obstruction prior to 2021 was because he had the power of the Presidency at his disposal, right?

dude hasn't even been able to get reinstated on Twitter, and he's going to mastermind a rise from the ashes?

entirely possible he doesn't do time or get indicted/etc but you're overestimating his abilities since he left office.

Toonie Orlando (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 23 August 2022 02:08 (one year ago) link

I guess

Dan S, Tuesday, 23 August 2022 02:11 (one year ago) link

He might mastermind a rise from the ashes given that he has more control over the federal judiciary than obvious criminals usually do

People chuckling about the amateurishness of Trump's filing are going to be disappointed when he wins anyway because the judge is a far-right hack. https://t.co/aLRNBhbKDE

i think reading any certainty into this latest filing is a fool's errand though

so trump filed a … motion? petition? … to exclude evidence from a proceeding that doesn’t exist?

Toonie Orlando (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 23 August 2022 02:24 (one year ago) link

unless theres evidence he was engaged in actual espionage kinda doubt hell be charged for just trying to keep the documents, could have worse luck in some of the other cases floating around out there tho

lag∞n, Tuesday, 23 August 2022 02:30 (one year ago) link

should also be noted that Michael Tae Sweeney is a film and tv editor, with little expertise on the issue, and the person he quoted (Marc Joseph Stern, who is an extremely reliable source) didn't have quite the outlook he did. MJS is more baffled at the entire filing and thinks the most Trump will get out of the judge is slow-walking the case.

xpost yeah it's never been a certainty he would be indicted to begin with.

Toonie Orlando (Neanderthal), Tuesday, 23 August 2022 02:34 (one year ago) link

how many times do we have to do this

he IS stupid AND he was the 45th president. we are at the point now where that is demonstrably true.

he’s not a secret genius no matter how much you want that to be true, no matter how much you want to believe that only smart people attain power

he IS stupid and any success he has isnt because he’s a secret genius it’s because there’s a system allowing it to happen

terminators of endearment (VegemiteGrrl), Tuesday, 23 August 2022 02:35 (one year ago) link

there have been like 500 tell-all books about Donald Trump and the only ones that promote a remotely flattering assessment of his intelligence are the ones he paid to have written. whenever he goes off-prompter he either says the dumbest shit imaginable or acts like he has no clue what he just said 5 seconds ago. hate to be one of the guys who say this kind of bullshit but reality TV really did lead us directly to this, literally and figuratively
