Caught the Ostlund (pretty good!) and the Lanthimos (pretty meh!) at press screenings this week

so TIFF begins today...

Got 5 NYFF tix, probably more later. Off the Main Slate just Call Me by Your Name and one of the two Hongs. Two Mitchum oldies and Pandora's Box w/ orchestra.

I wanted to see CMBYN but it's only playing on TIFF's opening night, which should be avoided at all costs

Someone I trust very much speaks highly of the Schrader.

Zama was very good. Caniba has ensured that no screen violence will shock me for at least a decade.

I need to be convinced of the pivot the Schrader movie takes in its second half but I can't deny the power of its best moments

The Square has gotten its share of grumpy dissents

Not surprising. It pretty seriously loses steam near the end (just as Force Majeure did) but I liked it a fair amount. The AK-47 to FM's pistol.

break it down as easily as possible, can the general public buy tix to tiff screenings? im expecting to be in toronto while the fest is going on so if so i want to plan ahead

yes. i did not go as a critic, that one year.

i think "festival" always implies it is not closed!

yeah anyone with the scratch can buy tickets, but try to get in on ticket packages when they first go on sale cause individual ticket prices are nuts
