I'd love if that was the case but I don't think the team will perform catastrophically enough to make Mourinho's position untenable

we'll limp our way to 3rd/4th playing hideous football and Woodward won't have the stones to fire him

Number None, Sunday, 29 July 2018 19:18 (five years ago) link

Lol Mou Tweets. I don't know what kind of fucked up world doesn't have Eriksen as a playmaker

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 29 July 2018 19:36 (five years ago) link

1st and 2nd look sewn up so you basically have Spurs, Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and Wolves fighting for the remaining two CL places.

Arsenal will surely be better this year, Spurs could find themselves playing catch up after their opening away fixtures and World Cup fatigue, Chelsea are an unknown but looks like Hazard is staying and United are United. Wouldn't like to call 3rd/4th at this stage.

Leicester won two years ago so nothing's nailed on but come on, they certainly look most likely to push City this year. Strengthened attack and defence, signed a non-comedy keeper and also had less players at WC than rivals

groovypanda, Sunday, 29 July 2018 20:36 (five years ago) link

ribbing aside lfc have done good work in recruitment.

but they didnt finish second nor very close to second this year.

and im not sure that the atyle they play lends itself to sustained epl pointscoring.

Or maybe not

'Last season I told you some numbers, but this season we don't know,' he said. 'I don't know if we are going to sign or not. We're working on that. I cannot tell you if we're going to sign one, zero or two or three or four.

'We're working. It's true that it's so close, the transfer window is so close, but the club's doing everything to help the team and add some players, more quality, and try to help us in the season to achieve what we want.'

lol! Charlie Adams having a pop at Shaqiri seems a little bit rich, to say the least.

i mean he's entirely correct about Adam but still

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 31 July 2018 10:28 (five years ago) link

oh he's a tool as well, but i thought the brief character sketch has definite rings of truth!

it's from the very intelligent Bellamy book, that he wrote without any help from an adult.

Nah, it's fake xp

groovypanda, Tuesday, 31 July 2018 11:16 (five years ago) link

oops, often parodies of footballers seem more believable than the real thing to me.

how disappointing

the Joao looked at Jonny (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 31 July 2018 11:23 (five years ago) link

It fooled a lot of the media at the time too calzino

groovypanda, Tuesday, 31 July 2018 11:26 (five years ago) link

ah, it did seem real!

Adams dissing Shaqiri and saying if he'd have turned up more often Stoke might have stayed, might have some truth to it, but that useless, overpaid lump isn't in a place to make such judgments imo

If Shaqiri really took it easy, knowing Stoke's relegation would trigger his relatively cheap escape clause outta that shithole, then he is already a legend!

calzino, Tuesday, 31 July 2018 11:40 (five years ago) link

It appears Burnley haven't signed anyone, both keepers are crocked, Dyche is apparently so focused on buying British he's considering Crouch and then there is all them useless LDV Johnstone's Paint Trophy Euro cup games! I think the Burnley project might come unstuck this season. Too insular and inbred like their fans! I never forget them photos of Burnley fans after the Wembley playoff win, looking like befuddled 18th century time travellers.

calzino, Tuesday, 31 July 2018 20:20 (five years ago) link

I think Burnley and Tottenham are the only two Premier League sides not to have signed anyone this transfer window *crosses fingers* so far

groovypanda, Wednesday, 1 August 2018 07:49 (five years ago) link

Pereira has done the blunder of releasing Ben Hamer, who has been so good in pre-season that some think he might start over Lossl against Chelsea, rather than just adding competition. Then they've paid £12m for Ward, who made some incredible saves in the playoff final for us, but was our weakest link over the season. He was mostly the reason we had one of the biggest negative gd's of a promoted side in ages, and was an absolute consistent liability. If Schmeichel goes in this window and he's the no.1, they are so fucked!

calzino, Wednesday, 1 August 2018 08:35 (five years ago) link

Do Burnley need another striker? That seems to be the one area where they have reasonable depth.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 1 August 2018 08:45 (five years ago) link

if they still have Nakhi Wells on the books I'd say they do need more depth! It looks like Dyche's hopes for this window was getting Jay Rodriguez and Craig Dawson from W Brom and they are holding out for big money. It'll probably happen on deadline day.

calzino, Wednesday, 1 August 2018 09:01 (five years ago) link

got burnley to go down this season

nxd, Wednesday, 1 August 2018 09:09 (five years ago) link

I think they will as well. I know Dyche is a bit of a cult figure on here, but I think he's a retrograde numpt!

calzino, Wednesday, 1 August 2018 09:14 (five years ago) link

cardiff and huddersfield are bookies favourites but half the league is vulnerable

ogmor, Wednesday, 1 August 2018 09:27 (five years ago) link

If I had a mortgage I'd put it on the 4/6 you can get on Huddersfield staying up. There... I've completely fucked it now!

calzino, Wednesday, 1 August 2018 09:30 (five years ago) link

yearning for an opposite of leicester-winning-the-league and man city to inexplicably find themselves bottom in may

nxd, Wednesday, 1 August 2018 09:31 (five years ago) link

I reckon Huddersfield will consolidate quite nicely tbh. Watford really struggled in the second half of last season, have sold their best player and their main signing is the permanently-crocked Delofeu. I'd say they're pretty fucked.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 1 August 2018 09:33 (five years ago) link

I hope Huddersfield will play better football this season 'round. Can see Watford going down easily, like Burnley and Cardiff. And Soton. Love2c West Ham go down.
