I'm new here. (I spend time on ILM...)

PSA: A local video store is going out of business - they have a pretty decent selection of art films (VHS) - all selling for $8. Anything you want me to look for & mail to you?

..Not sure what's left, but yesterday there were still a few hundred..

i saw the american movie guys doing a talk at (what was) the Metro on Rupert Street. i didn't know what to make of them. The film is grebt though

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 15:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw it for the first time when I was in milwaukee in september.

it's funny to see these crazy guys walking around the university of wisconsin and other places I went often. I also saw crazy ray [who is in the film for ten seconds at the first production meeting] sitting outside sentry and around the university campus.

yeah.

Not an art film but worth a shot: The Gods Must Be Crazy!

mary b. (mary b.), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 15:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Is that the film that I saw in France called 'Les Dieux sont tombes sur leurs tetes' (or something similar - it may have been dubbed and I was a fair bit younger)? One scene involved African kids pishing into the radiator of a truck in the desert because they didn't have any water.

Madchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 15:15 (twenty-three years ago)

RJG > where'd you get the DVD from? I was under the impression it had never been released on video or DVD over here?

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 15:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I keep hearing about American Movie and doubtless will one day see it...*decades pass*...really, one day!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 15:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I shall check for these this evening - (and any others posted throughout the day..)

dave225 (Dave225), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 15:53 (twenty-three years ago)

"Nashville" stinks on VHS. Altman made full use of the widescreen frame, and you really miss half the picture on the pan-and-scan tape. Even half of the opening credits are cut off.

Sean (Sean), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 15:55 (twenty-three years ago)

You haven't lived till you've heard RJG say 'Milwaukee'.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 16:08 (twenty-three years ago)

journey through the secret life of plants, which i'm pretty sure does not exist on video, so nevermind

"The decline of western civilisation"

Too late - I already looked & it was gone .. unless you want "Part 3: the Metal Years"

dave225 (Dave225), Tuesday, 29 October 2002 18:49 (twenty-three years ago)

As a general rule, I do not watch movies. Recently however, I decided that I would break my rule for anything by Tarkovsky. So I'm looking for anything by Tarkovsky. But not very hard, because I really hate watching movies.

Dave Fischer, Wednesday, 30 October 2002 11:45 (twenty-three years ago)

you can *never* see 'nashville' on tv, or video - why ?
anyone know ? it's, like, in every top 50 movies list ever.
it's probably the last mainstream american film
from the 70's left i really want to see.

piscesboy, Wednesday, 30 October 2002 12:48 (twenty-three years ago)

I've seen Nashville on TV - in the UK, and I don't know if you're here or not.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 30 October 2002 13:28 (twenty-three years ago)

i am and it mustve been on fillumfour and that

piscesboy, Wednesday, 30 October 2002 19:53 (twenty-three years ago)

No, I'm positive it's been on broadcast stations, and more than once - I saw it long before I had Film Four.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 30 October 2002 20:47 (twenty-three years ago)

It's on DVD...
