I think bunnies are very cute indeed.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 31 October 2002 12:25 (twenty-three years ago)

No more than most animals, really.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 31 October 2002 12:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I like the way anthropomorphic bunnies waggle their little tail.

At All Tomorrow's Parties, walking round the camp at night looking for rabbits is a particular highlight.

DV (dirtyvicar), Thursday, 31 October 2002 12:37 (twenty-three years ago)

They're scary. Very scary.

Graham (graham), Thursday, 31 October 2002 12:46 (twenty-three years ago)

"Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes. They've got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses. And what's with all the carrots? What do they need such good eyesight for anyway? Bunnies! Bunnies! It must be bunnies!"- Anya

Daniel_Rf, Thursday, 31 October 2002 12:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Bunnies are much cuter than kittens.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 31 October 2002 13:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I have a Goldfrapp "Utopia" poster up, mostyly for the massive picture of a bunny on it, and aren't bunny noses the most incredible things ever?

I was a bunny cuteness agnostic until Isabel got one from the RSPCA and now I wuv them.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 31 October 2002 14:51 (twenty-three years ago)

I've always liked bunnies!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 31 October 2002 14:54 (twenty-three years ago)

I always wanted a house bunny like the folk down the road but I've never been sure what with the hygiene & furniture nibbling issues, and I'm not sure if it's cruel to keep a bunny in your house - don't they need exercise?

Plinky (Plinky), Thursday, 31 October 2002 14:57 (twenty-three years ago)

But they get more excersise in a house than in a hutch.

Anna (Anna), Thursday, 31 October 2002 15:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Good point Anna, methinks me shall buy me a bunny. I wonder what the boyf will say....? I'd better do some research.

Plinky (Plinky), Thursday, 31 October 2002 15:32 (twenty-three years ago)

It seems like bunnies are cute in theory, but then you come upon one and they're kinda creepy.

I think wild rabbits are cuter than those pet bunny things.

Thank you very much for the bunny pic, Alan. It's among the most adorable things I've ever seen.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 1 November 2002 23:24 (twenty-three years ago)

You can get bunny-chinchilla crosses. I like those chinchilla things. Does anyone know where the word "bunny" comes from? I was wondering that a couple of weeks back.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Saturday, 2 November 2002 01:23 (twenty-three years ago)

i like real bunnies, but not playboy ones.

Miss Laura, Monday, 4 November 2002 08:33 (twenty-three years ago)

I feel sorry for that kitten in the glass. Pure torture!

Yes, bunnies are cute. But then again, I've never had one cuz I've had cats.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Monday, 4 November 2002 16:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Yay Bunnicula! I was wondering when that one would be invoked.

General Woundwort does look pretty scraggy up there at the top.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 4 November 2002 16:45 (twenty-three years ago)

But Sarah, bunnies and kittens get on really well together! (N.B. this may be only in my dreams.)(And Alan's, I expect.)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 5 November 2002 12:41 (twenty-three years ago)

They so don't. Isabel's rabbit chased her mum's cat all round the room last time I saw them together.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 5 November 2002 15:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Heh, all the intereactions between bunnies and kittens that I have witnessed ended with dead bunnies.

rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 5 November 2002 18:10 (twenty-three years ago)

one year passes...
well that's the way it usually goes with these herbivores and them carnivores, innit?

MarkH (MarkH), Sunday, 19 September 2004 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Did you set up a calendar two years ago until the time was right?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 19 September 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

no, but apart from obviously never allowing bunnies to come into contact with their predators, apparently the other thing to remember is to never put 2 males together in a hutch. Apparently they FITE so badly that I remember a vet saying that they'd had a male rabbit brought to the surgery which had one of its testicles ripped from its scrotum by another male.

MarkH (MarkH), Sunday, 19 September 2004 13:43 (twenty-one years ago)

you're running a sav today, mark.

nine years pass...

I was working this morning in a community garden when a woman shrieked and jumped back several steps. We assumed it was bees, or some other icky bug, but no, it was a nest of baby bunnies!

https://i.imgur.com/3KiQcJ3.jpg

It looks like a mess, but nestled in that, er, nest were four adorable baby bunnies:

https://i.imgur.com/dANt5xh.jpg

Of course, having inadvertently planted bunnies in our garden, we were not sure what to do. None of us wanted to move them, lest we harm the babies or cause future harm to the baby bunnies. But all of us also recognized the folly of raising bunnies in a raised vegetable garden bed. After calling around we learned that they take about three weeks to mature and leave "home," and that in the meantime their mom comes by once a day, really early in the morning, to feed them, so it was recommended we just wait until they've opened their eyes, grown all their fur, etc. Of course, they seemed well on their way, and indeed, within a minute of two of unearthing one hopped up, off the edge of the raised bed, and then just took off to live its life and, one presumes, make more bunnies.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 11 April 2021 20:06 (five years ago)

(Should add that said woman was soooooo relieved she hadn't accidentally stabbed one with a shovel.)

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 11 April 2021 20:07 (five years ago)

One year while I was growing up a doe rabbit had her litter in our front yard. Our cats (indoor by that time) were riveted.

In the last couple of years I'm seen more and more rabbits in my neighborhood (the nearby park supports a herd of deer and god knows what other critters).
