a debt-ridden middleclass family to turn to petty serious* crime to make ends meet

the domestic stuff has a nice spiteful undertone to it -- this family don't like one another much

*i wrote petty before i'd watched all of e1, then it escalated

combo low-key sour domestic comedy, minor "caper" hijinks and oh fuck crime is bad and you will feel bad (i like it so far)

crime is bad and you will feel bad

this is because they are middle class. never seems to bother the rich.

i love the line this walks between light (much of the family stuff) and bleakly srs bsns (where it all seems to be headed)

also i like that -- bad as the family are (especially the son) -- they do kind of like one another, and everyone else (including the supposed non-criminals) is p much worse

oddly enough -- as the plot is almost exactly the opposite (owing a huge amount of money not gaining same) -- the series it reminds me of most is meet the braithwaites

the best thing is that the grandmother is such a sweet old lady

(guessing in s2that she turns out have been an international cat-burglar in her youth)

(or still is)

also the cop is hilarious (apparently there's only one)

the mum (anu sinisalo)* and dad (carl-kristian rundman) are terrific, the son (antto orasmaa ) is a bit doughy and bland, the daughter (sanna toivanen) is a good actress but a bit too relentlessly radiant really (though it this actually works in the rellgious parts of her story)

*was also in BORDERTOWN
