I don't understand, is it in the middle of the North Sea or something? Can't get it to zoom out and tell me where it is!

kate, Friday, 1 November 2002 18:41 (twenty-one years ago) link

just head east

gareth (gareth), Friday, 1 November 2002 18:56 (twenty-one years ago) link

You were right about that North Sea business.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 1 November 2002 19:59 (twenty-one years ago) link

Bergen (which looks to be the biggest city to the east) is a little warmer than it is where I am now (Winnipeg), though with their humidity it probably feels colder. Doesn't sound very good, huh? And to think I was going to start a thread inviting people to come here. I guess no one is a big enough Neil Young fan to want to make a pilgrimage.

Is Neil Young from Winnipeg? Christ that would explain so much...

kate, Friday, 1 November 2002 20:27 (twenty-one years ago) link

I lived here for a long time, and yes, it does explain a lot, depending of course on what you mean by that. Please explain. He went to high school about a 10 minute walk from where I live.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 1 November 2002 20:31 (twenty-one years ago) link

i lived here! I mean NEIL YOUNG LIVED HERE!

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 1 November 2002 20:31 (twenty-one years ago) link

I need a Tums.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 1 November 2002 20:31 (twenty-one years ago) link

har har har!!! half of my friends - christ, even one of my bandmates - are from Winterpeg and I never knew about the Young connection. It explains so much about Neil Young (most notably the sideburns... I think all Winterpeggers have them) and also why said friends think that it is so funny to think of random musicans and add "And Crazy Horse!!!" then laugh hysterically at the idea of, say... "Ani DiFranco... And Crazy Horse!"

kate, Friday, 1 November 2002 20:41 (twenty-one years ago) link

Bandmates? Who? And I am sideburn free, by the way, but I've only lived here for three years.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 1 November 2002 20:50 (twenty-one years ago) link

Ah, the sideburns will get you soon! Every male I've ever met from Winnipeg has sideburns. Not all of them as extravagent as Neil Young's, but I think that takes long-term Winnipeg exposure.

kate, Friday, 1 November 2002 20:56 (twenty-one years ago) link

Winterpeg. Jeesh. Just because we just had the coldest October on record doesn't mean we're so one dimensional! It's also a sweltering inferno in the summer! We also tried to kill the Queen when she was here last month.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 1 November 2002 20:57 (twenty-one years ago) link

I can't grow 'em.

Bryan (Bryan), Friday, 1 November 2002 20:59 (twenty-one years ago) link

I was told by some friends that to become a true Winnipegger you have to be here for three years. No sideburns yet, and my nuts have yet to freeze off. Tell your friends we miss them and that the Golden Boy has been regilded and looks kinda fake now.

It's very cold here today, and being sick makes it colder. I feel like the winter shall never end and eclipse into sunshine happy time.

It's hot here - was 92 today. Tanktop and shorts weather. Whee!

why is it cold inside my apt? it's not even cold in real winter.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Saturday, 17 May 2003 01:55 (twenty years ago) link

All of you who are currently complaining about the cold (and not just those who've posted about it) -- fuck you. ;) No, really, I would saw my own left arm off to get cold, wet weather over here. You want to know what the fucking high was today??? Ninety-fucking-seven degrees, and that's the actual air temperature. The humidity was something along the lines of a thousand percent. While I was driving home today, the steering wheel felt like molten lava and the inside of the vehicle felt like the inside of a preheated oven. You could've probably stuck a whole turkey inside my vehicle at around 10 a.m. and by 5 p.m. had an early Thanksgiving dinner. That, combined with the fact that we've only gotten a miserable 0.04" of rain in about two months makes me a very grumpy girl (you can tell by my use of the f-word -- I steer clear from it if I'm in a good mood).

WHERE THE FUCK HAS MY SPRINGTIME GONE, DAMN IT?!?!?!

Dee the Semi-Lurker (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 17 May 2003 02:27 (twenty years ago) link

Not as cold as it is really stormy here today... like more stormy than the midst of winter for Seattle. Lightning, too. (Thunderstorms are quite rare here)

Tonight I got a ride home with a girl I've sort of been crushing on for about 4 months. We rode home listening to Bjork songs, and we argued about them and whatnot. At the end of the ride I traded her one of latest favorite albums and she gave me a copy of an erotic short story that she was intending to give to her current BF, who is a friend of mine as well. I spent the remainder of the evening going back and forth to get access to the base liquor store, the only area alcohol purveyor that stays open past 2:00 AM.

I rode in the company of a sober friend, for those of you of you might be concerned.

I feel cold right now. I haven't felt this way in quite a while. I have had sensual encounters on other occasions since my last incidence of intercourse- yet nothing like the interaction of the last few weeks has arisen such utterly dire hormonic urges in my person as these recent events have.

Why I am I posting this to a web board? Because I want people to offer themselves up for my gratification, free of commitment. I can't think of any of any reason. If you can, please post.

two years pass...

-7 was the core temp this morning, not windchill or anything. hardly remarkable or that extreme, really, but walking to work this morning I was thinking that it really is kind of wild to have an annual temperature swing of 100-110 degrees being totally normal and not really noteworthy.
