NES Tetris - Music 1, 2, or 3?

2 has the best movement with that sweet build up to the triumphant climax. 3 is basically chillwave + also apparently was the nintendo phoneline hold music back in the day. 1 is fuckin tchaikovsky obv so the fact that the other two merit a mention at all is pretty legit.

Holy cow, this is the first time I ever realized the NES music was different from the Game Boy version (the one I'm familiar with). Diggin' 3 rn.

2 is the only track shared with the Gameboy version of the game

the bass rhythm in 3 is so weird + deliberate + human, love the vibe of that one but i think it is hampered by being so short and having just the 2 sections before it repeats

the idea of playing tetris on a nes is incomprehensible to me

i've had several NESes, purchased in the late 90s from thrift stores, and always had Tetris. when i first moved out of my house and lived in a squat house w like 5 other people we played Tetris while listening to records by The Misfits, David Bowie, and The Three Suns. we would start on level 9 so that right away you are full speed and got pretty good at it, we could both last a while. plus you get to see whatever cool animation easter egg shows up at the end. i never had an NES as a kid tho, we had an Atari 7800, it was cheaper, we didn't have much money. we did have Gameboy and Tetris utterly ruled on it (as well as Dr. Mario)

for best results with og chiptune music i recommend playing it through a CRT.

nes tetris is 35 years old. tons of players who have been playing it at a super high level for many years, and yet 3 out of the players going in to the top four (right now!) are under 20. exciting times. good esport.
