I can’t speak for your not-online life but for every rude or negative thing I’ve seen posted about you here there are probably 20 posts expressing appreciation and support for your thoughts, writing, and general existence. I absolutely focus on the negative myself but I shouldn’t, you have to give the positive stuff some weight too.

Anyway I’m good at putting people at ease and engaging with them sincerely.

I guess 'good listener' might be my best quality? Inasmuch as others have remarked on it numerous times and it doesn't seem too baggage-laden. Like, I have a demonstrable ability to make people laugh (I wasn't named 'ILX's Undeniably and Inarguably Funniest Poster' seven times over for nothing) but I'm uncertain whether the mirth I bring into the world outweighs whatever unhealthy shit fuels that tendency. Listening feels more like an act of genuine care. Oh, I'm great with kids and animals. That might count as a positive.

good listener is a great best quality imo. i feel like i'm always working on being one, especially with close friends and with family just bc i feel like i'm used to their patterns of thought (which ofc i'm not, i'm just used to what i think their patterns of thought are)

It probably helps that (despite what my persona here might suggest) I really prefer not to direct a conversation or be the center of attention. It's much easier for me to be present when I'm on the receiving end.

I used to think I was a pretty good listener. But recently I needed some help from an advocate from the charity Carers Count, and realised that in comparison to the awesome person that turned up to help me, I'm pretty fucking pitiful tbh. But in theory I'd love to help anybody if I could, but I'm basically totally shit at it!
