Finally getting around to making a thread for this. Second series is far better than the first, which I really liked.
I understand that this is on US Netflix and has a growing audience there? I’d love to hear what Americans think of it.
Obviously everyone knows and loves Sister Michael but I adore Michelle, her take on the famine always kills me, though Granda Joe is probably my real favourite.
The music is the best, just uncomplicated nostalgic pop and there’s great value in the show’s repeated focus on the girls’ innocence.
Some surprisingly emotional moments too - the end of s1 obviously, and the end of the most recent episode. I definitely teared up and I wasn’t expecting to!

My friend recommended this to me on a night out recently and I watched the whole thing hungover the next day. True story

I haven't liked the second season as much, it's getting a wee bit samey. My partner's family are all from Derry so it's not an opinion I feel I can confidentally express much!

What?! I am so disappointed by the 2nd series.

Michele is my favorite though so I agree with you on that.
I watched the first season in one night and I'm still invested but I honestly don't think the second is anywhere near as good.

And I'm American but I did go to an all-girls Catholic High School in the 90s so I think that is part of the reason why I instantly loved it.

This is quite popular in my house right now for similar reasons or so it would seem. But I am liking it as well.

HATED the chelsea clinton cameo at the end. This is a show about Ireland, not the US. She should not be the final person on screen in the series.

Were you as cross about the Bill Clinton plot in the previous series?

When I was first writing Derry Girls I asked people I grew up with to send me photographs that might help me rebuild the past. My friend Laura sent me this. Look in the corner. Incredible #DerryGirls pic.twitter.com/2e64UZ9YPc— Lisa McGee (@LisaMMcGee) October 14, 2022
