this is one of those “play up a benign preference” (like loving bacon or keanu reeves) things that people use to...I don’t really know why people do this.

Yep it’s a very dumb meme, agreed.

Well that about wraps it up, good work all round everyone

To really force a feeling of belonging, probably. Think of the whole Nicolas Cage obsession. Everyone that made pillow cases out of his face or whatever... I mean they obviously found it funny on some level but the whole exercise was just people competing with each other about how far they could take it for the reward of validation from a group made up of tons of people trying to do the same thing. Do they REALLY care about him that much? Bacon? Sriracha? Chuck Norris? It's about as shallow and needy and low effort as when you see people shouting Anchorman quotes at each other.

Let's not go nuts.

It sounds a lot like 'muist', which in Romanian means 'cocksucker'.

(Pronounced 'moo-yeast').

The only place I've ever heard of aversion to the word "moist" is the first episode of Dead Like Me.

moist only came fifth in this poll of terrible words:

Why would anyone pick 'pulchritude'?

As for 'bromance', maybe portmanteaus are just less euphonious.

I wonder how many of those 19 voters have never heard "meatus" spoken aloud and actually think it rhymes with "wheatus"
