this is great, glad Robin Thede got her own thing on HBO where she'll hopefully have a wider audience

Man this show really commits to going weird places. Thede seems to get a big kick out of playing male gangsta characters, for ex. The pseudo-This Is The End-style running gags are probably my favorite.
Am I the only person watching this?

i love thede deeply and was a devoted watcher of The Rundown; this show has great casting and solid production values.... but i found the first episode dire and unfunny and didn't particularly feel compelled to return. I'll likely try again with a later ep. Sketch comedy is hard!

Not everything lands, but the ratio of good to "what on earth" is about the same as 'I think you should leave', though there hasn't been anything that's as instantly memorable as the best stuff from that.

i don't remember anything that even raised a chuckle from the first episode... actually beyond the basset bad bitch focus group, i can't remember anything from the first episode.

I find myself laughing at individual jokes/gags/lines more than entire sketches, possibly a result of the sketches taking a lot of abrupt left turns

best running joke = the gangsta guy that can't say "yes"

last one seemed like the first episode where every sketch landed/was funny

Only saw the first episode, which definitely had its moments. Need to get caught up. Also otm re: individual lines working better than sketches.
