unperson i think you're going to have to go to some website treasury is launching on wednesday (according to mnuchin at the trump campaign coronavirus event earlier). he said that everyone who was going to receive it via direct deposit would get it by wednesday, and that everyone else should go to the website to get it. which to me, seemed like the usual "gift card" grift - they know not everyone will go to the website and get it that didn't receive it via direct deposit, so they'll save a bunch of money and fuck over people who are too busy taking care of kids or working to read the fine print.

maybe it's conditional that each IRS employee can see only one digit of the account number/routing number

Maybe it decreases the higher the income before it cuts off entirely?

Haven't filed taxes yet (pretty sure we owe this year, instead of expecting a refund as usual). But because we got a refund last year, our direct deposit info was already on file. It seems to have arrived last night or early this morning.

Went to the IRS Get My Payment site this morning... IRS doesn't have my direct deposit info (they should, I got my refund for tax year 2018 via DD) but their update banking info form crashes if the amount owed/amount refunded on your tax return is zero... and for 2019, that's what mine is. Oh well, maybe I'll get a paper check this summer sometime.

Due to totally unpredictable circumstances I'm banking money even making my usual monthly donations plus throwing money at causes that cross my soc med. Think I'm gonna give it away a la silby. It's true I have no idea how long I'm going to be out of work so there's def an argument about saving for later, but there are more ppl who don't have the necessities for survival right now.

Progress! Today when I went to the IRS page, instead of status not available, it asked me for my tax return and bank routing info. Now the payment should be coming although I don't have a date yet. I see the tool had maintenance last night, I'm wondering if that was a factor in the change.

Cool, site's finally working for me, too. Now I just have to dig my '18 tax materials out of whatever the hell box they're in. Probably get the check before I find them, honestly.

Finally got my payment. The 2-week turnaround after entering your info seems to be the case. I told myself and others I'm banking this money in anticipation of traveling when the social distancing guidelines relax.
