xpost - I mean, fair, but, unfortunately, as recently as two weeks ago, the "Q stuff" was inextricably and dangerously tied to politics, so it's kinda hard to avoid. I think right now there's just a joy in watching some absolutely terrifying and dangerous people lose their shit and identity.

Q started as tangentially related to US Politics and contributed to the (probably temporary) demise of a major political party, but i would guess that it will continue to morph and glom onto something else, post 1/20/21. rebranding, new topic, new conspiracies. many of the original followers shaved off, maybe, as they realize that the content of their daily lives is a practical joke gone cosmically wrong, but also a lot of fresh new Q blood as every single event that happens in the world features a splinter conspiracy theory that proffers to offer an explanation for why the things that we see are not real, and the things that seem like absurd jokes are the true light

While Biden took the oath, one top post on a QAnon forum read: “I don’t think this is supposed to happen” and wondered, “How long does it take the fed to run up the stairs and arrest him?"
Other users became immediately dejected, realizing their dreams of a bloody coup were not going to take place.

He's not really Q-y, is he? He's more full-on radical militia. Even then, 18 years is well under the stated guidelines, which iirc were set at 21-27 years. Prosecutors asked for 25, the maximum sentence for seditious conspiracy is reportedly 20 years in prison (setting aside consecutive sentences), so even then the 18 years is a downward variance (a phrase I just learned).

file under least surprising revelation ever
The anti-child slavery activist Tim Ballard, whose work was dramatized in the movie Sound of Freedom, resigned from the Operation Underground Railroad (Our) organization he founded amid allegations he sexually harassed colleagues, it was reported on Monday.
Ballard, a former adviser to the Trump administration on child sexual trafficking, who is reported to be exploring a run for a US Senate seat in Utah, resigned abruptly from the group in June for then-unknown reasons.
But the online media outlet Vice reported on Monday that the ultra-conservative figure, an alleged QAnon conspiracy theorist, resigned after Our launched a sexual misconduct investigation against him involving at least seven women.

The details of that were, even less surprising, pretty strange and gross:
...invited women to act as his “wife” on undercover overseas missions ostensibly aimed at rescuing victims of sex trafficking. He would then allegedly coerce those women into sharing a bed or showering together, claiming that it was necessary to fool traffickers. Ballard, who was played by Jim Caviezel in the hit film Sound of Freedom, is said to have sent at least one woman a photo of himself in his underwear, festooned with fake tattoos, and to have asked another “how far she was willing to go,” in the words of a source, to save children.
