I initially thought it was just a bit of a lark and possibly just a social media marketing campaign for Alex Niven's book that had got out of hand, but Proudfoot is an interesting, thoughtful fella (altho apparently lives in Brighton or Bath or somewhere?) and especially with the Tories occupying Liverpool I could see it being an actually effective protest vote, helping shift Labour policy, even if it never came close to winning a seat?
