"I've been here the whole time!" Thread for Dropout (formerly College Humor) streaming service run by Sam Reich.

Been watching this a lot more this year, it's behind a subscription fee, but it's cheap. Extremely nerdy, stoner fare that emphasizes surrealism and silliness. Sam Reich, the guy who runs it, is actually Robert Reich's son.

Game Changer, the flagship game show/improv panel show is actually one of the more inventive and hilarious things being produced right now, and it's flying super under the radar. There's also oddball fare like "Dungeons and Drag Queens" where a number drag queens, including Bob the Drag Queen, partake in a real table top D&D session.

Definitely an acquired taste form of entertainment, but oddly wholesome.

Any other ILXors actively tuning in?

My wife and I keep talking about subscribing, we will one of these days. We're big fans of Very Important People, and Game Changer can be really funny.

Love Vic Michaelis in particular, but there are a lot of funny people in that universe.

I've enjoyed some Game Changer 'best of' clips but when I tried watching a whole episode I just couldn't get into it.

I've felt that way about the majority of the rest of the dropout content. Game Changer, especially the current and last three seasons has been kinda low key brilliant. The One Year Later, Standards and Practices and even the latest Count the Rice episodes were pretty next level. Count the Rice especially made me jealous wishing I could partake in the fun myself!

It's also a personality thing. If you're not into the vibes of the contestants or subject matter you're gonna want to switch off.

I'm a fan of many of the people involved - Brian David Gilbert, Vic Michaelis, frequent guests like Demi Adejugyigbe and Paul F Tompkins - but can't get on with the house style at all. It is perhaps from being more used to UK panel shows, which don't get me wrong can be very garish as well, but they do understand that if the objective is a parasocial hangout vibe you gotta let stuff breathe. The Dropout shows are always edited to shit.
