Is that a Banana Skin I See Before Me?

Looking down at the floor a few moments ago, I noticed that my shoelace had become totally caught inside one of the casters of my chair. It took me ages to disentangle it, but it set me thinking - what if I hadn't noticed and had got up to go to the loo, coffee machine whatever?! I had a lucky escape.

What accidents have you *almost* had?

I once fell off a ladder backwards onto a stone floor. If I hadn't been wearing a bowler hat (true!) I could have split my skull open.

I almost ate Bolivia

Pls tell me this was a dress rehearsal for a play, Mark C. I can't think of any other circumstances when bowler hats and ladders might go together.

There was an occasion when I was in the canteen at my student hall of residence. I was carrying a tray laden with food from the servery to my table when I lost my footing. Fortunately, I recovered it just in time and continued on my way, but the reaction of the onlookers was quite amusing; they went "Whooooooah" as I lost my footing, in preparation for a cheer, only to go "Ohhh" in disappointment when I didn't actually fall!

I seem to remember almost killing my mother when trying to throw a stone into the sea once. White faces all round. I don't throw things much these days.

No, but it was a halloween party.

Oh, another time i was cycling one-handed down to the glaziers (as you do) with a pane of glass under one arm. For some reason, in the middle of a busy road, I decided to hold the right handlebar with my left hand. I don't know how I stayed upright, or indeed alive, but I did. Maybe I should dedicate my life to the church?

And this in itself isn't an accident waiting to happen?

That was kind of my point! Only I then did something even more stupid. No confessions yerself, Richard T?

Oh, and on the stone-throwing tip, a rock I tried to throw into the sea in Dorset went straight up in the air and landed on someone's bonnet. Oops.

This happens to me ALL the time! Well, except for that "almost" bit.
