i just never do, thats all. im um......39 now ( omg ) but i still think in terms of me being around, say, 31-34 ish?
is there a time when it just comes home that you are 60, or something?

i dont mean acting your age, thats different and no one i know actually does that!

donna (donna), Saturday, 14 December 2002 06:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I feel my age. It sucks. Do your joints click or pop when you move them? That's your age.

webcrack (music=crack), Saturday, 14 December 2002 07:14 (twenty-three years ago)

i was always treated as being much older than I really am. it really fucked me up. i wish i could feel 22. i should be out at clubs trying to pull. i am not.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Saturday, 14 December 2002 07:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Damn, I hope it's soon. I'm 25 and feeling 18. Which is not all that good when one is trying to come across as a smartyman pop writer.

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Saturday, 14 December 2002 07:19 (twenty-three years ago)

i feel like i'm nearly 40

unknown or illegal user (doorag), Saturday, 14 December 2002 09:10 (twenty-three years ago)

mark s (mark s), Saturday, 14 December 2002 11:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I've always been lacking in energy.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 14 December 2002 13:03 (twenty-three years ago)

I am 43. Mentally, I'm not sure I've grown up a great deal since I was about 14, but physically I feel about 60. Best of both worlds!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 14 December 2002 13:20 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm also feeling 5 years younger than i actually am...five years ago i felt five years older than i actually was

stevem (blueski), Saturday, 14 December 2002 14:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Have you done any time travelling during that period? If so, you might have been right both times.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 14 December 2002 15:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I felt like I was thirty two the other day. I am thirty two. The coincidence doesn't arise much. 'I am a name, not a number!'

Gordon (Gordon), Saturday, 14 December 2002 16:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Furthermore, although the point at which one becomes dead is a nuisance for a variety of reasons one can, in advance of it, let slip signs of wisdom although it has to be said that these are hard won since folks no longer see the bon mots as signs of potential but are jolted into the uncomforteable scenario of their being real. 'There?' Nonono: there' 'Where???' 'Look. I saw it, just for a moment!' 'Really?' 'I'm sure.' 'There!' 'Whaa?' 'There' but by then it was too late.

Gordon (Gordon), Saturday, 14 December 2002 16:23 (twenty-three years ago)

My joints *are* starting to hurt a little bit, and I've recently noticed I'm not nearly as flexible as I used to be, so I've started doing a little stretching in the morning, and most of it really hurts! I'm 35, and no way would it have hurt only a couple years ago. Looking in the mirror... well, I don't have wrinkles or anything, but The Kid is gone, that's for damn sure. I guess he was probably gone a long time ago.

Sean (Sean), Saturday, 14 December 2002 18:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Most days I feel a good decade younger than I am. Well, mentally that is.

rosemary (rosemary), Saturday, 14 December 2002 20:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm 25!! I was born in 1968, ohh, I mean 1978!! I'll_always_be 25!!

brg30 (brg30), Saturday, 14 December 2002 20:25 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm only 23, and I love feeling my age! hahahaha! young and carefree!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 14 December 2002 20:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Sean, you are a lucky bastard if you are 35 with no wrinkles and just beginning to feel inflexible.

webcrack (music=crack), Saturday, 14 December 2002 22:07 (twenty-three years ago)

I know.

Sean (Sean), Saturday, 14 December 2002 22:27 (twenty-three years ago)

I felt 53 this morning and now I feel 54

DG (D_To_The_G), Saturday, 14 December 2002 23:19 (twenty-three years ago)

"Age aint nothin but a number" Aaliyah... who's dead.

I'm horrible.

David Allen, Saturday, 14 December 2002 23:47 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm 23 and i feel older than i am: not physically, but mentally. its like i just wanna be with my family lots.

di smith (lucylurex), Sunday, 15 December 2002 00:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Me too, good thing I live w/them

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 15 December 2002 00:48 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm 24, I don't know how old I feel. How is 24 supposed to feel? Mostly it's "oh shit, I really should DO something". This seems typical.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 15 December 2002 00:50 (twenty-three years ago)

31 -- I feel bemused, but I always feel bemused.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 15 December 2002 00:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Permanently stiff achey joints are par for the course by 35? Oh great. This is going to be like the time someone told me women starting getting fat, saggy and wrinkly by 22 and I thought "ha ha exaggeration" and NOW LOOK AT ME (no, don't). And I don't even have any fewer spots to make up for it. So this time round I have to work out whether I'd be happier if I believed it beforehand or not, I suppose.

But now I'm just going to cry like a two-year-old.

Rebecca (reb), Sunday, 15 December 2002 01:32 (twenty-three years ago)

i am 23 but i feel about 18

geeta (geeta), Sunday, 15 December 2002 01:33 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm 19 but I feel older if I can say so.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Sunday, 15 December 2002 05:23 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm 1008 but i feel 872

mark s (mark s), Sunday, 15 December 2002 12:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm 36 and don't look or feel much different than 25. OK, I've added a few inches to the stomach area, and my hair has thinned a little up front, but really, for something closing in on 40 I don't feel too bad.

mike a (mike a), Sunday, 15 December 2002 16:30 (twenty-three years ago)

Is Gordon's second post impossible to "get" until you've reached a certain age?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Sunday, 15 December 2002 17:12 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm 25, but I feel half a century old. If you know what I mean.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Sunday, 15 December 2002 17:31 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm 17 and I keep forgetting and saying 15 or 16. It's like the past two years just didn't happen. I was waiting for some exciting fairy-tale thing to happen on the eve of my sixteenth birthday, and it didn't, and I just can't get over that.

Maria (Maria), Sunday, 15 December 2002 17:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Is Gordon's second post impossible to "get" until you've reached a certain age?

At least I haven't reached whatever age that is.

webcrack (music=crack), Sunday, 15 December 2002 21:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Permanently stiff achey joints are par for the course by 35?

I don't agree. My right knee is a bit achey, but that's due to an injury, and it's quite tolerable. However, when I talked to my surgeon about the possibility of joining the torn meniscus back together and letting it heal, he said something like, "Since your over 30, there's very little chance that would work. One you pass 30 or so, the blood supply to this area decreases to practically nothing, so the cartilage is very unlikely to heal."

Rockist Scientist, Sunday, 15 December 2002 21:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I am 43, and more seriously, I have no permanently stiff or achey parts at all.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 15 December 2002 22:00 (twenty-three years ago)

How does age affect sexual stamina? my friend wants to know...

a. non, Sunday, 15 December 2002 23:03 (twenty-three years ago)

My stamina generally is not fantastic - but I'm asthmatic, and it never has been. I guess it's deteriorated a bit. Sexually, apart from the preceding, the only extra effect is that I don't come too quickly very often. Don't know how much that is from age.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 15 December 2002 23:25 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm 14. Usually I feel (and look) a bit older though. Being really tall helps.

Livvie, Monday, 16 December 2002 09:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm 27 and for the first time in my life I feel my age, in fact I feel about 30.

smee (smee), Monday, 16 December 2002 14:02 (twenty-three years ago)

39 next month, and feeling like a multiple of 39.

Marcello Carlin, Monday, 16 December 2002 14:10 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm 17, but feel much, much older, but not in a good way.

liz! (liz!), Monday, 16 December 2002 23:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Like 39 times 1?

dwh (dwh), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 00:25 (twenty-three years ago)

I am 20 now, a very grown-up number which always seemed like a long ways away. No creaking joints yet, but I think my thighs are fatter.

Genevieve, Tuesday, 17 December 2002 00:47 (twenty-three years ago)

In my mind's eye I am 10 years younger than my actual age, and in my mirror I appear 7 years younger. Therefore, I live in denial of my true age.

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 03:03 (twenty-three years ago)

i am 23 but today i feel 23^x where x is [2,10000]

geeta (geeta), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 03:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm 24 - 25 in April - I feel 25. Meaning it really burns being around people who are 26 and are making five times as much with advanced degrees and are "happily" married. And it really burns being around people who are 20-21-22 and are still capable of doing things that for me are not an option in my mind- sport fucking, rotgut whiskey, Forty 40's to Freedom weekends, moshing, political idealism.

I'm at the point where I realize that if I go back to college to finish my degree, especially if I go back to my former school, I'll be driven quite insane by the presence of thousands of underclassmen who were born in years that I can remember clearly.

Tom Millar (Millar), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 04:03 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm 32 and feel sort of weird about it--I very often find myself in situations where I'm either the oldest person or (less often) the youngest person. This connects to all sorts of grotesque psychological crap I've got going on which would bore everyone silly.

Douglas, Tuesday, 17 December 2002 05:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Someone needs to post one of those age tests. You know, where smoking makes you older and exercise makes you younger...

I'm 25. I always forget how old I am. Sometimes I think I'm still a teenager. Then eventually, I think, no... I'm 24! No, 25! Yeah, that's it. I think it's cool to be mid-20s. Much better than really being a teenager becuase I feel like I've learned alot since then.

And I didn't have sex as a teenager.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 15:02 (twenty-three years ago)

I turn 30 in a month and a day, but I still act like I'm 14.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 15:18 (twenty-three years ago)
