The Coen brothers stole my idea!

They're remaking the Ladykillers, with Tom Hanks possibly playing the lead (so sez imdb). Dammit, I thought of remaking that film a couple years ago. What ideas have you had "stolen"?

Aaron W, Tuesday, 17 December 2002 15:42 (twenty-three years ago)

A cologne that smelled like the ocean. Fucking Kramer stole it!

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 15:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Andy Warhol stole my idea of a poster that said wow.

toraneko (toraneko), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 15:50 (twenty-three years ago)

CDs and DVDs were my idea. and pockets. i wus robbed.

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 16:06 (twenty-three years ago)

It was my idea to bomb Cambodia, that's why Nixon didnt tell anybody

dave q, Tuesday, 17 December 2002 16:55 (twenty-three years ago)

That is insane. That film is about as near to perfect as a film can get. The combination of cast, director, era and setting is just perfect. It will fail.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 16:59 (twenty-three years ago)

When I was v. small I invented shock absorbers.

nabisco (nabisco), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 17:30 (twenty-three years ago)

How strange! For a long time I have been thinking of remaking every film ever made. Sometimes I would be up front and call it a remake. Sometimes I would conceal that my film is a remake by changing a few details and the title and pretending it is a new idea.

What do you want to bet those cockfarmers in Hollywood steal this idea, too?

Aimless, Tuesday, 17 December 2002 18:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Dan the Automator only records with MCs who rip my lyrics.

For years, I was the only MC I'd ever heard flow the word "dirigible", but then Kool Keith and Del manage to drop it into their respective Automator projects. Posers.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 17 December 2002 18:49 (twenty-three years ago)

one year passes...
Revive, to talk about Ladykillers, which I hate to say, sucks a bag of balls.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 20:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Why I do declare...

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

A cologne that smelled like the ocean. Fucking Kramer stole it!

Bastard stole my idea of a clothing style, too.

Jay Kid (Jay K), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 20:48 (twenty-two years ago)

C'mon, the Coen Bros have been sliding towards a genuine stinker since Fargo--oh, wait, I forgot about that Billy Bob Thornton. Okay, so they have another.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 20:49 (twenty-two years ago)

As awful as Tom Hanks is on a regular basis, I'm just thankful he hasn't turned to directing.

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 20:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I have to say, the trailers didn't look bad at all. Then again, I've never seen the original, and after checking out the cast it seems like I'd better. No doubt there will be a nice dvd reissue coming out around the same time as the remake.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 20:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm just glad Hanks is fucking FINALLY doing another comedy.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 20:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Private Ryan was a laff-fest in comparison.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 20:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Is Jerry Horne from Twin Peaks in it or am I imagining things?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 21:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I just watched the trailer, it's much worse than I though possible.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 21:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Why does nobody make films like Blood Simple anymore? John Dahl needs to make a comeback too.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 21:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Is Jerry Horne from Twin Peaks in it or am I imagining things?

Richard Beymer? I don't think so.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 21:03 (twenty-two years ago)

No, sadly Jerry is not in it. But Marlon Wayans is!
It's not terrible, it's just dissapointing. It's like a "surely they must have realised what they were doing?" feeling. I like them so much in interviews, that I can't believe the same people made this film.
It's their REM-releases-Monster phase.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 21:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha! Could you please compare it to a Pet Shop Boys song as well?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

See, I would've said that about O Brother which I didn't like much at all, but then they redeemed themselves in my eyes with The Man Who Wasn't There.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 21:24 (twenty-two years ago)

oh finally someone else likes The Man Who Wasn't There. thank you, J.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Can I just say that I thought of X-Men vs Street Fighter in '93? Screw yourselves, Capcom!

I liked the original Ladykillers, the idea of a poor remake is a damn shame.

Barima (Barima), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

It's a fantastic film, but then I didn't think O brother was that bad.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

It's like the second half of Release, but not the first.
Man Who Wasn't There was great! I was there, I can prove it!

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 21:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I really did think of this first though. Bastards.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Can I just say that I thought of X-Men vs Street Fighter in '93?

But I thought of it in '91!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't believe they have another film out so quickly. They're turning into a factory and it's showing (okay I haven't seen this or the last one but nothing really makes me want to either).

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought this was going to be a Homer thread.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:43 (twenty-two years ago)

is it even worse than the last one (which i cant even remember the name of!)?

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I came up with the idea for "Anaconda" in 4th grade (seriously). Jon Voight's character certainly was not part of the original idea.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 00:21 (twenty-two years ago)

After a day to think about it, I'd say it's worse than the last one. Too many fart jokes.

Chuck Tatum (Chuck Tatum), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 00:27 (twenty-two years ago)

wait so ladykillers is by the coen bros?! and is a remake?

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 03:36 (twenty-two years ago)
