It is rather pinched from the Superman Revenge Squad, which I think dates back to the '50s.

That's why it's such a great idea. It was more of a thread starter than a pitch... and I'd forgotten completely about Ennis' take on it.

We should pinch more things from the Superman Revenge Squad. It rolls off the tongue so well. Everyone needs their own Revenge Squad.

twelve years pass...

watching the sly version right now. i forgot how unsufferable Rob Schneider is in it. "I'm alive! oh...you are too." "Um, you're going to need to wipe this seat off later".

worth it for Armand Assante and Sly Stallone screaming "lawwwww" at each other.
