Computers were down at work so I wasn't able to communicate before now (I am briefly stopping off at an internet cafe before I disappear for the holidays).

I wish to thank everyone who offered kind words to me today, both on and off board. They were much appreciated.

I should mention a new email I received from "ilx" giving a fictitious address of "[email protected]" entitled "Re: your self-important 1982 list."

The text of the message read:

"You are a pompous idiot."

In view of this I have decided to cease contributing to ILx in any shape or form as of now. This one piece of shit has negated all the good things which were sent to me.

I will only return to ILx at such time as the messageboard becomes password protected, in order to prevent such idiots from gaining access to it in future.

Anyone who wishes to keep in touch with me, please do so via email or (for those who have my mobile number) by 'phone.

I will now be away from computers until Monday 6th January.

I know how Marcello feels; I've been hurt to the core by similar abuse on the political newsgroups (hence why I stopped posting there a week ago) and I haven't been through a fraction of what he's experienced.

I agree totally with Graham. But I would; I have been through similar lowness and know the first rule of making things better is to blow off what's remote/left-field hurtful by not taking everything that happens or is said to you so personally.

You're right. BUT some people CANNOT do this - a combination of their character and 'the way their life is' means that they cannot take the normal rough and tumble of life without grossly over-reacting to stuff like a meaningless e-mail from an anonymous no-mark. If you have few close friends, little social life and generally feel that you're an outsider in an unfair world, you're going to attach far too much importance to, what appears to the rest of us, trivial slights. You might bear this in mind, Graham.

On the other hand, if you're going to be a writer/artist of any worth you have to expect criticism and be able to deal with it. Also don't dish out criticism of others unless you're prepared to take some back.

i have always found marcello to be a very trying personality. however, i know that many people around here like him a lot, and that's good enough for me - i try to just tune it out and mind my own business. this morning, reading some of his recent posts, my temper got the best of me.

the point? i don't know if there is a point. i brought up this thread to say "hey, i thought you promised not to come back." and i used that particular link because it was not a very nice thing of me to say. whoomp.
