The norm in Scandinavia, and judging from yesterday also in Holland. No swimming costumes allowed, for hygenic reasons, no sexual atmosphere, lots of couples + families, everyone naked. Once the shock wore off it was very relaxing.

According the Sunday Independent there's all sorts of *MAD STUFF* going on in Dublin. As long as you don't take your camera phone to the gym (or Lillies) the world's your lobster!

Hmm, it fosters relaxation, as they don't seem to have these uptight attitudes about needing to have yr clothes buttoned up to your neck.

I'm not sure it is the "norm" in Scandinavia. Swedish friends have certainly denied this and claim that segregation is more the norm. In Finland I was told they only got mixed when things got drunken. When I went, swimming trunks were kept on, although later I was embarrassed to discover that this only was to preserve the modesty of their British guest.

I've been in mixed showers. There was a highly sexed atmosphere for the boys, and no sexual atmosphere whatsoever for the girls. In fact, most of the girls decided to go without a shower that particular day.

I've built and run several mixed sweat lodges and I've always been suprised by the lack of a sexually charged atmosphere. Of course the dark is a great asset here, but even pre and post sweat around the fire it appears to be absent.
