he isn't an Xtian, and isn't human, and doesn't recognise the concept of not wanting to do work on days when everyone else has already started partying.

so I say COCKFARMER.

His name ain't Scrooge, by any chance?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 23 December 2002 16:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Xmas eve in the office can be great fun, if you do a little work then stand around chatting, eating mince pies and drinking champers before being sent home early. That's what my old bosses used to do.

Mark C (Mark C), Monday, 23 December 2002 16:11 (twenty-three years ago)

I so hope that happens here tomorrow but I very much doubt it....just as I typed that my boss walked past on his way out and wished me a Merry Christmas, which means he wont be here tomorrow which means opportunity for mucho skiving. Yay!!

smee (smee), Monday, 23 December 2002 16:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Lord. It's very hard to work today. I say... cockfarmer.

Aaron W, Monday, 23 December 2002 16:17 (twenty-three years ago)

before Ebeneezer Cockfarmer became our boss, the Xmo Eve tradition was to come into work, arse around doing nothing for an hour, and then go to the pub.

bah, I didn't become a pampered public sector worker to do actual work on Xmo eve.

DV (dirtyvicar), Monday, 23 December 2002 16:23 (twenty-three years ago)

I was supposed to be working then, but as we got all of our packing done in preparation for our office move in about half an hour this morning, the bosses passed round the mince pies and told us to go home!

MarkH (MarkH), Monday, 23 December 2002 16:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Quit gloating!

smee (smee), Monday, 23 December 2002 16:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Tomorrow's Christmas Eve?

wow

Curtis Stephens, Monday, 23 December 2002 16:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm not entirely sure which is worse, though - my COCKFARMING boss, or my whiney colleagues.

DV (dirtyvicar), Monday, 23 December 2002 16:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Xmo eve

"This is the most emo Christmas ever!"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 23 December 2002 16:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Tis what was etched in fine print, but your blood-riddled sig probably obliterated it.

If you're lucky, Scrooge may take your leg-shakles off to give you your gruel.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 23 December 2002 17:12 (twenty-three years ago)

ha ha ha, good old unions - we have to be out by midday.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 24 December 2002 10:44 (twenty-three years ago)

luna.c (luna.c), Tuesday, 24 December 2002 16:58 (twenty-three years ago)

My current Christmas Eve Day at work:
* free gingerbread latte (thank you Secret Santa, who brought me a $25 coffee card)
* not much work, ergo shameless websurfing
* the Pixies' Doolittle at mid-volume
* the fact that I get to leave at 11 am anyway

Could be worse, really.

I'm released now...or am I?

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 24 December 2002 17:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Why do people go see movies on holidays? Don't they realize that means that the poor projectionist has to give up his holiday? Why is this world SO CRUEL?

Obviously I have to leave for work soon. But I'm going to be a spiteful and cruel projectionist and turn the lights on AS SOON AS THE CREDITS START. Bwa ha ha.

adam (adam), Tuesday, 24 December 2002 17:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Christmas Eve IS NOT A HOLIDAY, DUMBASSES. I had to work like buggery just to get out at 1.30pm today. And I didn't get any friggin' mince pies, neither.

eleven years pass...

I like working on Christmas Eve. The office is quiet, the radio stations are playing Christmas music, the trains are nearly empty, you can eat lunch right at noon without waiting in line. It's like all the best parts of living in the city without all the dumb people getting in the way.

I'm working today and my biggest concern is that the local weed shop will still be open when I get to leave
