Get some chesnuts, soak them in mulled wine for about four days. You're too late mate.

it's not too late for mullet chestnuts, though -- so long as Dave has some spare hair and glue lying around ...

hmmmmm... no i'm thinking more along the lines of butter, chestnuts, wine, and other stuff.... but my dad used to cook it and it only took an hour. but hes not here anymore. People are arriving and i have a turkey so undercooked a really good vet could still save it. i've drunk the best part of a bottle of vodka. i hate christmas. they can shove their chestnuts up their arse.

This kid's got attitude! I respect that.

Mull together varying amounts of butter, chestnuts and wine in the usual way. Continue mulling for approximately sixty minutes. When chestnuts are sufficiently mulled, shove them up the arse of your guests and enjoy.

Ok... so i just chucked the chestnuts in a pot with some butter and wine. that can fizz away for an hour. mnnnnnnnnn wine is delicious. guests are curious about screaming noises coming from kitchen. I smiled. My fingers are cooked more than the turkey at this point, which is lying to one side in the oven and due to time-per-pound calculations won't be ready for eating until march. 2005. Also, have realized with horror have forgotten to buy gifts for not one, but two cousins. Am now deperately hunting house for un-damaged items i can wrap. think i will drink myself into state and tell them i've been diagnosed with a terminal illness before moving to cuba, growing my hair and change my name to shirly. seasons greatings.

I never had to buy presents for my cousins. Give yourself a break.

I was delighted to find peeled chestnuts in the store this Thankgiving. I put tons in the creamed spinach. At 13 bucks a jar some might find it costly, but if I had peeled that many chestnuts I would want a couple hundred. Chore from hell.
As for mulled chestnuts, Dave's had three years to figure it out. I would just suggest
googling it. Aside from this message board, googling for recipes is the best use of the interweb.
