I had Chinese for lunch and then I went home and watched Beat (the movie about William and Joan Burroughs) on pay per view. The food was really good; the movie wasn't bad.

there is no good chinese near me so I have been on the phone desperatelytrying to find a pizza place. Blockbuster is open, so I would have thought that such other marvelous corporate entities such as domino's and pizza hut would be as well... no luck thus far. we are also out of food in the house.

We aren't Jewish but we hit the Indian buffet before seeing About Schmidt.

After searching in vain for an open pizza place, I got carry-out from the Afghan Restaurant. It was excellent as always. I watched "Down to Earth" with Chris Rock and it wasn;t bad.

Adaptation was grebt. LOTR was entertaining. Don't want to see that Pinocchio - looks creepy... Not Jewish either, but am all for chinese food.

I ended up watching 2 Towers Monday and Sense and Sensibility again on xmas day (got the VHS for xmas). And eating an indian dish my mom made. (by that I mean we ate indian food, not an actual dish - ouch!)

The Pinocchio commercials look like they are for some seedy foriegn porn flick.

my dad is Chinese, but insists on "white" food on Christmas and Thanksgiving.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 27 December 2002 19:13 (twenty-three years ago)

What, like Milky Bars?

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 27 December 2002 19:28 (twenty-three years ago)

I was appalled to find out that both my local Chinese restaurants were CLOSED on Christmas day - as were the neighborhood Thai and Japanese places! What the hell? So no Chinese for me, but I did watch This Is Spinal Tap for the first time in a few years. Great as ever.

Dude, on Christmas Eve my Uncle and I went to a Chinese place. I had hot & sour soup, a spring roll, and broccoli with garlic sauce. Plus a Heinekin, because I can't remember the names of Chinese beers and my best friend wasn't there to tell me what they are called. What are they called?

Ally (mlescaut), Saturday, 28 December 2002 08:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Couldn't you just have asked the waiter?

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 28 December 2002 12:54 (twenty-three years ago)

He didn't really speak English so I decided against conversation. Plus, I'm really not that sold on them anyway.

Ally (mlescaut), Saturday, 28 December 2002 22:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Not sold on waiters, Ally?

Doesn't Halcyon throw a little event with Chinese food and movies over the holidays? If they are still doing that, then I will have a top 5 reason to move back to NYC.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Saturday, 28 December 2002 22:51 (twenty-three years ago)

TSINGTAO!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 29 December 2002 02:57 (twenty-three years ago)

YES!

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Sunday, 29 December 2002 03:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Waiters are almost all fools.

Ally (mlescaut), Sunday, 29 December 2002 05:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh Tsingtao is amazing, I love the way the ingredients label looks like some dude in his shed made it.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 29 December 2002 12:48 (twenty-three years ago)

tsing tao is lovely and the bottle gives me an aesthic hard on.

anthony easton (anthony), Sunday, 29 December 2002 13:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I did this this year, unintentionally. And the movie was Woody Allen's Manhattan.

TSINGTAO!

Let me add to the praise. My dad introduced this to me as he always had one at the Chinese places we went to.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 17:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Singha! Thai malt liquor. Out of this world.

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 18:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Ooh I had Tsingtao on my Jewish Xmas day. We saw Gangs of NY and I had pineapple fried rice.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 7 January 2003 20:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Another pro-Tsingtao vote here. And I like the Korean beer OB because it reminds me of Tsingtao. When I lived in Mount Pleasant several years ago I was able to get six-packs of OB for $3. Then I moved to a more upscale neighborhood, and found OB in one posh store...for $5 the six-pack (which is still a good price, but...)
