Recently decided to take up table tennis again, been binging on YouTube videos. Quite excited - I played (to a not-very-good) standard as a teen but have been away from it for 10 years. Kind of nervous at how shit I'm going to be mind.
Also, yes, very excited for the Olympics. Two singles players per country means China can't take a clean sweep, and really opens it up.

When I took tennis lessons that was the advice for everyone - just return the ball and wait for the other person to make a mistake. I figured at top competition levels there would be more offense.

I think the best players of the last few years have all been attackers and a match between two is for sure very exciting
But defenders can make the match exciting too - they're one reason why a competition table tennis arena is the size that it is
