Have a wonderful new year everyone and best of luck and love and everything else... See you in 2003 (I love/hate saying that).

Let old acquaintance be forgot...uh...da da da da da da daaaaaaaaa!!!!

(Generally, when that song is sung, everyone around me is drunk enough to not notice I don't know the words.)

It's about 10 o' clock here. Happy New Year, everyone.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Wednesday, 1 January 2003 05:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Hope you all enjoyed 2002. It was a palindrome. Won't have another one of those for a while.

2003 = new Prince Paul album = happy indeed.

(The fact that it is midnight and I am typing this from home should bother me more than it actually does, but I just saw one of the most hallucinogenic fucked-up trainwreck Minnesota public access programs EVER so I am too befuddled to ruminate about my social life.)

nate are they still showing the one where they cut down trees?

Josh (Josh), Wednesday, 1 January 2003 06:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Is ABBA's "Happy New Year" a sad song or a happy song? I've been trying to figure this out tonight.

Amateurist (amateurist), Wednesday, 1 January 2003 06:57 (twenty-three years ago)

ABBA is also a palindrome.

Amateurist (amateurist), Wednesday, 1 January 2003 07:00 (twenty-three years ago)

The one I saw involved this grandparent-age couple wearing matching "USA" sweatshirts doing the worst prop comedy ever with some ill-defined faux-QVC air to it. They had one of those grimacing bug-eyed cymbal-bashing monkeys and a coconut done up to look like a pirate and a very unconvincing "mental floss" prop where it was supposed to look like they were pulling floss between their ears but it was obvious that it was actually going behind their heads and not actually in their ears and they RIFFED ON IT FOR FIVE MINUTES STRAIGHT. Then they played some country music video so I turned it off.

They promised that next week they would do routines about "Minnesota winters". No. NO.

I am drifting in and out of sleep whilst listening to "Coltrane's Sound." My stomach is negotiating a combination of peking duck, strawberry daquiris, and homemade eggnog. Later today I will build bookshelves.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Amateurist (amateurist), Wednesday, 1 January 2003 13:03 (twenty-three years ago)

this is the second (actually the first) happy new year thread. I don't have the good will to repeat my good wishes.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 1 January 2003 21:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Can we pronounce it in roman numerals? A Homeric "mmmm..." sound followed by an "AI-AI-AI" scream, I think.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 1 January 2003 21:29 (twenty-three years ago)

yes, I am hearing the "AI-AI-AI" part like Ozzy at the beginning of "Crazy Train"

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 1 January 2003 22:42 (twenty-three years ago)

i am hearing it like george michael in "monkey"

di smith (lucylurex), Thursday, 2 January 2003 01:54 (twenty-three years ago)
