From what I can gather from other threads then I'm not a million miles away from the Hackney/Dalston posse that you mention Gareth (I'm in Stamford Hill now) but I don't know if there's anyone closer.

yeah i like it a lot. the weather is usually great, the beaches are gorgeous, it's pretty cheap and has most things (bands often don't tour here though, that's pretty annoying). it can be a bit small too what with bumping into people you want to avoid (even though 1.7M live here or something). but it's cool. i'd like to go live in melbs for a time before i settle down though.

it is a little weird that way, since it's actually pretty spread out. but that whole six degrees of separation thing seems to have shrunk to about two. i bumped into a girl i was at uni with in my office building's shower room jsut this morning. she was naked, it was disturbing as i hadn't seen her for ages and it felt odd to be saying "so what are you up to these days?" to someone with no gear on.
