i like the Robot Planet one from the first series:
Robot Guard #2: Which of the following would you most prefer? A: A puppy? B: A pretty flower from your sweetie or C: A large properly formatted data file?
Robot Guard #1: Choose!
[Fry and Leela whisper to each other about the answer.]
Fry: Is the puppy mechanical in any way?
Robot Guard #2: No. It is the bad kind of puppy.
Leela: Then we'll go with that data file.
Robot Guard #2: Correct.
Robot Guard #1: The flower would also have been acceptable.

Stevem is OTM. When anyone pulls the "even if they suck, the simpsons are better than anything else on TV" line, Futurama is my standard refutation. Also, futurama is better sci-fi than most "serious" sci-fi on TV.

I've got what they call 'gaydar'."Leela: "There's no such thing."Bender: "No? ....Ok, I've got a lock on him. Yep, he's gay!"Amy: "Are you sure?"Bender: "Definitely! Unless I'm getting interference from a gay weather balloon."Fry: "Wait a second. You are a bender, right? We can get out of here if you just bend the bars!"Bender: "Dream on skin tube! Zapp: Men, you're lucky men. Soon you'll all be fighting for your planet. Many of you will be dying for your planet. A few of you will be forced through a fine mesh screen for your planet. They will be the luckiest of all.
Bender: Great, we're gonna die.
Fry: And this ham gum is all bones.
― Trayce, Tuesday, 3 July 2007 04:46 (eighteen years ago)
In fact that whole episode has some great lines:
Zapp: It's the one word the robot uses more than any other. We got it from this convenient database of his 10 most frequently-used words. [He presses a button on the database and a list comes up.] Number 10, chump; number nine, chumpette; number eight, yours; number seven, up; number six, pimpmobile; number five, bite; number four, my ... [Leela gasps.] ... number three, shiny; number two, daffodil. And Bender's number one most frequently-uttered word, the word which, if uttered, will blow up this entire planet: Ass.
[Fry gasps.]
Fry: We don't have long!

background info re:above post―is everything political? i've watched and rewatched the series enough to have developed a lot of theories, and just general thinking about the ideals+etiquette behind each character. key among them is: nixon keeps getting reelected, but how?
we know bender's all-in (if he could vote), and definitely the professor imo. leela actively campaigns against nixon, so definitely no. that leaves fry, hermes, amy, and dr zoidberg.
if we cross real-world implications into the picture, fry is most likely deeply affected by post-traumatic response. so he's a chaotic neutral, and literally doesn't care. i suspect he has probably repeatedly voted for nixon's opponent in a ploy to seduce leela, and that’s the extent of fry's political beliefs.
hermes is clearly a libertarian, so who knows. fry's a more consistent voter than hermes. again, real-world implications: hermes is high as fuck most of the time, and is subsequently an emotional and political wild card. i will say this about hermes: he loves dwight unconditionally and it's one of the best dynamics in the show. do nixon's policies affect this super important aspect of hermes' life enough to impact his voting? who knows.
fyi i hate amy and her stupid boomer parents. she's definitely a nixon voter. wonder how nixon's policies affect those buggalo tariffs, huh leo? YOU GOT WHAT YOU VOTED FOR🤬
and last, our dearest friend doctor john zoidberg. nephew of the great harold zoid, resident of dumpsters. i dunno man, zoidberg's pretty f'kn cool imo. doesn't know shit about his job, but keeps getting hired. totally maxed out loyalty stats, loves with his entire soul, but no social skills whatsoever. has a penchant (and undeniable success, in theory) for showmanship and charm, but zero execution. remember when he got a girlfriend? that was rad. he's loyal to the professor, but i think for other theoretical reasons i've also thought too much about, and which we won't get into here. he's definitely old school, but probably politically very centrist: socially liberal, economically conservative. i think he was most likely "RAISED RIGHT™" within his culture, and that translates well to his political compass. i would say zoidberg has most likely voted for nixon in the past, but is starting to regret it.
