What should we be saying instead of these?

I quite like "Well I'll go to the foot of our stairs" as an expression of surprise instead of "wow".

I'd use 'all right' instead of 'alright'.

I tend to say 'bugger me' as an expression of surprise. It almost causes me to say it again when every witless person insists on saying "No thanks!" in a pleased manner.
