By the roots of my hair some god got hold of me.I sizzled in his blue volts like a desert prophet.
The nights snapped out of sight like a lizard's eyelid : A world of bald white days in a shadeless socket.
A vulturous boredom pinned me in this tree.If he were I, he would do what I did.

CATS BY THE TAIL (Frank Sargeson)
The other day the boy next door held my cat up by the tail. I thought I'd take his attention off the cat, so I asked him what he liked best in all the world. He told me, cake. I asked him didn't he like holding cats up by the tail? He said he did. He's a dear little chap. He said, 'Will you give me a piece of cake? Will you? Will you? Why won't you give me a piece of cake? Why won't you? Why won't you give me a piece of cake?' Now I'd always thought Wordsworth was wrong in that bit about the child being father of the man. But I'm not so sure. I've gone about asking people, don't they like cake better than anything else in all the world? And don't they like holding cats up by the tail? They were all quite nice people. They all said, what nonsense! None of them said he liked holding cats up by the tail, and they all mentioned lots of things they liked better than cake. Yet the strange thing was I got the idea that whatever they said they liked was only another form of cake. And something about them told me that none of them had properly grown out of holding cats up by the tail. Well, just between you and me have you never felt you'd like to hold a cat up by the tail? And never felt you'd like to be let loose in a cake-shop with the blinds down? It all seems to me pretty serious. How are we going to run a League of Nations if we can't take our minds off cake, and holding cats up by the tail? If you asked me I'd say that lots of people must say their prayers like that.'Will You give me a piece of cake? Will You? Will You? Why won't You give me a piece of cake? Why won't You? Why won't You give me a piece of cake?'

cdsingles :
Sweet Female Attitude - Flowers (8 tracks! sunship remixes!)Shanks & Bigfoot - Sweet Like ChocolateThe Prodigy - Everbody In The PlaceLosttribe - Summer In The Winter (urban pasifika! one of the best scenes for groups that managed one classic single, then vanished)Kelis - Caught Out There (best.record.ever; + neptunes extended remix!)Artful Dodger ft Craig David - Woman Trouble (wideboyz mix!)All Saints - Pure Shores (I used this to smuggle an All Saints poster out for Elisabeth - I think the poster was originally from a Melanie (x) single)

& the single artwork is weird; it's v.pale greenwith "I HATE YOU SO MUCH RIGHT NOW!" looping (sort of like those quasi-recent Manics cdsingles) except one of the sentences has an inexplicable FOUR exclamation marks.
(by the way, does anybody know to find the remix of Latrelle's "Dirty Girl"? Tim Finney seems to be the only person that has heard it, it seems . . .)
(& haha, Elizabeth Knox's Black Oxen - Classic or Dud?)

I most certainly do NOT. I am surprised at how my random tastes can bemuse, though.
Heard that Latrelle remix, it's good. Don't know where it is easily found, though.

& it's almost 7am, it's light (tho freezing) outside so I better not rack up any more charges here, urk. also my writing is degenerate & should be put down bluntly ("I jest, I jest"?).

Would you like me to send it to you via e-mail or something?
