"P.S. We Should Be Together Too"

That closing line to Stan's second letter to Eminem has always fascinated me. Threatening and desparate, and yet romantic and absurd as well. Also sort of cryptic. I get the idea Stan's not even sure what he's asking for.

I assume nobody's gotten Stan-like about it, but have you ever wished you could send that sentiment to somebody, perhaps someone you've never actually met before? Or is it truly just for the psychotic?

Is this phrase more common than I know? I don't think I've heard it put this way before.

I often think it about people, sometimes without even having spoken to them, but would probably not say it as it is generally more of a reaction to someone being particularly cool/intelligent/attractive/stylish etc. and not generally an option as I am not in the market anyway.

"I'll be the Sam to your Frodo!"

Maria, that was perfect. I can add nothing.

Think Em reads much criticism?

I feel this way about a whole lot of people, usually minus the romantic implications. I feel this way about a great deal of ILxers, as well as Radiohead, obv. I think that obviously this is a byproduct of intense loneliness, and is primarily a means of convincing myself that all is not hopeless as long as *these people* are out there. I do notice though that I tend to feel this way more about groups of people than individuals (though there are exceptions). I suppose I haven't really ever abandoned my junior high state of mind where I so desperately wanted to be accepted into the most popular clique.

With the Em song, how can you subtract the romantic implications? A fanboy writes a gushing letter to his hero, ending it with "we should be together, too"...?

I'm seeing the new LOTR today; I just *know* Sam and Frodo are gonna kiss!

They are life partners, after all -- "gardener" is such a clever euphemism.

Tell that to the friends of a good friend of mine who love Morrissey but are homophobes. It's amazing what people can do.

What verge was he trimming, yes.

Insecure or thoughtful?
